Funny, when I went to my local HD the guy did not know what Leatherman was or what a multi-tool was. I found them near the checkout line.

You shouldn't be allowed to work at Home Depot if you don't even know what a Leatherman is, let alone the general thought of a multi-tool.

Just my opinion though.  :D

That has happened to me a few times.  If you have some time someday, go into HD and ask them to show you the sonic screwdrivers. They'll spend a half hour trying to locate them in the tool corral.

When they can't find it I keep the game going by saying I could make do with a hydro spanner.

But if you're working on Home Depot's time and carry one. You get a written coaching :twak:

 I ought to try this. Maybe we should do a test to see if Lowes or Home Depot hires worse employees.

They are both pretty bad.  I've rarely seen an employee at either Lowes or Home depot that knows more than I do about whatever I'm looking for.  It has happened, some old timer working the electrical section  or a contractor working part time in the tool crib, but they are few and far between.  Usually it's a college kid who doesn't know the difference between Carbide and High speed steel.

That works for me.  The more those people get confused, the more homeowners get fustrated and then come to stores like mine.  ;)  As for the sonic screwdrivers, they're usually stocked next to the left-handed smoke shifters......

No, I run an independent paint store.  Every single day we get at least one customer who has gotten frustrated trying to deal with someone in the paint department of a Lowes or Depot and comes to us half expecting the same sort of "advice" and customer service.  I've been selling paint and painting supplies for over 10 years.  I have a pretty good idea as to what I'm doing......  :)

I fear it says something when you are knocking off your own tools. And it ain't good.

I think I'll try adding a wire stripping notch and may try stonewashing or other finish. Anyone else thinking of modding?.

Well best of luck with the store. As a side note i used to mail invoices for four paint companies. Kwai, general paint, color wheel, frazee and there was a fifth but I can't remember.

Ok. Got my copy in today. Here are some comparison pics.

Right to left.

PTX s30v
PTX 154cm
PTX LE 6AL 4V Ti (005/100)
PTX 440
PTX 440 Smoke (BO)
LM 420
HTX outdoors clone
LM croc

The finish is a nice stonewash, but the edges are quite sharp still. The inside of the wrenches have a bit of the laser/water jet cut start and stop points.

The steel is thinner by about 30% than the piranha and the most obvious is the lack of hex hole and bit holder.

The jimping is a little different and as is the edge grind for the pry ends. It truly looks and feels like a budget OPMT, quite literally from the cutting bed to the tumbler to the grinder and then into packaging.

If these should go for about $10, I can see them doing well. Anymore and it would need a lot more work on tightening up the QC.

There is always a way, hack on!
Why stop now?

These shots actually remind me of the Atwood vrs. Navy knock off comparison Nate did some time ago. ( Atwood Prybaby vs the Navy 2001 Emergency prytool. ) Only the Navy ones looked better. It's hard to believe those to are actually made by the same company. :-\
