That's a great concept! I assume the little black things are spacers?

Gentleman, scholar, class act, and all-round great human being SurgeUK recently sent me a box of cool stuff! :hatsoff:

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

We see, clockwise from top left: a blue Alox Bantam, a set of sapphire scales waiting to go on just the right 91mm, a lanyard, a red Harvester, a slip for the Bantam, and a Nite-Ize HipClip.

Thank you again, my friend!

You are, as awlways, welcome. I hope the contents bring you some joy  ;) :salute:

Yeah, they can replace an implement in the tool if you want fewer than it holds, and they can be used as filler for the spare part boxes, so that spare tools don't rattle in them. There are just so many little details and design features in the Flex, I would post a review if I had a working laptop.

Stopped at a favorite pawn shop today and picked up a Gerber Diesel in black, an SOG power lock EOD in black and a Victorinox Spirit X, the one that looks like polished blue instead of silver and is etched on the blade, "Your Companion for Life on the Road." I believe someone else on here had one of those and said it came with a car or could be bought at a car dealership, but I can't remember the details beyond that.  Under $65 for all 3 including tax.

edited to show that the SAKwiki calls that Spirit variation the Spirit RT which has the same tools as the Spirit X but the different finish.

:like: I've visited two pawn shops recently. One has had a Spyderco and a few GECs, and the other dealt only in jewelry.

GECs at a pawn shop?!? Here it seems like all the pawn shops have are a few overpriced guns, power tools, and guitars.

Yes, GEC at a pawn shop. That was back in July, and if memory serves me correctly, their asking price was close to what I figured they sold for new. I seem to recall one had Kirinite covers.

Brand new Leatherman Signal for the October challenge! I'm still working and haven't had time to clean it off yet, so now I have black oxide all over my fingers from taking that photo! I foresee a toothbrush and some WD-40 making an appearance in my evening.

Farmer, I hope you enjoy those plastic lined Leathermans.  I always liked them.  Cypren, congrats on the new Signal.  If you keep buying tools for challenges you'll be as broke as the rest of us.

I, uh, may or may not have spent something like $5k in the past two weeks on knives and multitools, which is how I wound up stumbling onto these forums in the first place. I've always hovered on the periphery of the "knife world", carrying a SAK since I was about seven years old, buying a few knives like Buck, Kershaw and Benchmade and some premium multitools over the years. But a few weeks ago I learned about the Swisschamp XLT -- one of my favorite tools of all time -- getting cancelled and decided to pick up some spares, and that led me down the rabbit hole to expanding into a proper collection. When I get into a hobby, I tend to go hard.

@Alan K: I'd previously acquired a Kick (gifted to me by Aloha), and I like it quite a bit. So I have no doubt I'll like the Fuse and Blast as well.

@Cypren: I also went into this hobby kinda hard, but I've tapered off. I've found what works well for me in most situations. However, it's fun to see what everyone else likes (or not).

Nice group!

For me, the Fuse is the perfect "when I'm not working on the farm" carry. I don't use the file or saw outside of the place, but scissors are something the Rebar doesn't have, and definitely get used a ton around the house and in town.

After being stuck with no power for four days, and a ton of cleanup, I decided to finally treat myself to the Bolster at Sam's Club today. Been looking at them ever since Costco started carrying them, but was surprised Sam's had them for $40.

It will also be my first mod--like others have said, the pliers are vastly inferior to those on the Rev. Cutters are terrible.   Plans are to transplant the pliers from my Rev into it, as otherwise it's perfect--it's got a blade that's designed to be opened one-handed (something I can do with the Rev, but it's a little dangerous as it's a 2-hand blade) and the excellent thin serrated blade replaces that useless package opener.

PS: we didn't have power at the time I took these photos (came back on about 6:30 once they fixed a busted pole and blown transformer). Thus, they aren't the greatest.
