I know this has been discussed before...but we all change and modify our habits, so I was wondering CURRENTLY....what are you guys carrying besides your MT?  Also curious to know why you carry certain things as an additional.  This is my first time posting a poll like this instead of just reading, so I hope I get something back!

I used to carry a pocket knife.  A Case Pen Knife, pattern 87 specifically.  But recently ( the past 2 weeks), I have decided to go with just the Rebar that my wife gifted me.  I have found that over that time, 2 things have happened.  1:  I have less hesitation over what to grab for when I need a tool (which in my work is about every 3 minutes) since ALL I HAVE is the Rebar.  2:  I have gotten pretty darn quick deploying the blade, using it, and putting it back in my belt sheath because I was forced to practice alot!

Best Regards

I ALWAYS have a SAK with me complimenting my Leatherman,  and most times I have a classic folding knife of some kind with me too, but  I do not consider the Case/Buck/Rough Rider/etc, etc,  a requirement for me, just a bonus some days.
If I can help, let me know

Thanks detron.  It has been a sort of challenge recently for me to not have a pocket knife, mostly out of habit.  Feels like something is missing.  But I decided I would go at least a month with only the Rebar, so on I go!

The Rebar is a great Multitool,  and it can get you through most days with no issue,
I stay over prepared,  let me explain.

I do rotate what I carry some times, but right now my EDC is:

in my Skinth sheath:
Charge TTi, with bit extender and full bit kit.
mini maglite LED
home made Awl for my charge
micro 4 in one eye glass screw driver set

in my front pocket using a pocket clip:
Cyber-Yeoman SAK.

in other front pocket:
usually a mini-stockman or peanut, or what ever folding knife.

ON MY BAG that goes to work with me every day:
MOLLE Sheath with Surge
MOLLE Sheath with Swisschamp

in Car:
Super tinker
Blast

If I can help, let me know

Wow, you are definitely prepared!  I would love so see a picture of your homemade awl if you have one to post sometime.  If not, no worries.

I love Peanuts, I have one Case and one Bear model.  Great for Sunday slacks, can't even tell it's there!

I could only pic 3 ;)

I always carry a one hand opening pocket knife with clip.

I complement my leatherman/multitool with another leatherman/multitool
,a pocket tool or sometimes a sak.

it depends on what I think I'm going to be up to and what leatherman/tools I happening to be carrying that day.

the Awl is made from a spare MUT long bit,  just ground down.  not pro like or anything, but useful.

The LM Micra - the blade for opening packages and the scissors are top notch, better than the tiny ones squeezed into any full size LM.

detron, that awl looks great!  I am one who uses an awl awl the time (before having one on my MT I had a dedicated one on the truck every day)  I use it for poking, prying, scraping and cleaning greasy parts, and as a marking knife etc.  Yours looks like a great user!

Well... depends.

When I'm out in the field, alongside a Surge, typically a Kershaw Select Fire.

In the office or days off, Charge TTi with a Vic Explorer.

On occasion I'll change up either secondary for a LM E55B.

Almost always a SAK for me.  A good MT/SAK combo is more than enough for me and my normal daily life.  I could say that just a good MT would be fine for me, but I love SAKs, and feel like I'm missing something if I ever carry just a MT.  I admire your willpower to stick with only the Rebar for a month :salute:  It's one of my favorite MTs, but it lacks scissors and other things a SAK offers, which is the case for most MTs really.  Even the ones with scissors, they just aren't as good as SAK scissors imo.

Sometimes I have also carried a OHO folder with any MTs lacking that feature.  I like having a OHO blade, but I don't like carrying that third item for the most part.  That problem is solved whenever I carry my OG-Wave or Charge, but I can't resist also carrying non-OHO bladed models like the Rebar and Supertool.  In some ways I actually prefer that type of MT setup to the OHO models.

That was probably a bit more info than you were really asking for, but I tend to ramble on depending on the topic at hand ;)

Certainly not too much info, I am genuinely interested.  And value your opinion!  It's also nice to have you explain the logic behind your decisions on backup carry depending on what MT you use.  Thanks.

Victorianox Huntsman. Still haven't got the large flat-head quite right on my Wave, and the scissors suck. Huntsman gives my good scissors, tweezers, the flat-head, an awl, and a corkscrew.

Great compliment of tools packed into a decent sized package!

I agree.  (Just received my Micra in a combo pack also including a Kick and a Crater 33 all for £44 not much more than the current cost for the SS Micra alone which was what I wanted).

To return to topic I'm also searching for Parkerpusher's holy grail of a single carry.  First things first I require non-locking blades and scissors.   My urban EDC is a Juice S2 and nothing else is required.  TBH its carried "just in case".   Scissors, knife, cap lifter in that order, not much else used but I know that half decent pliers are there.

Previously I carried (for preference) a SAK, Super Tinker or Evo 16 coupled with a keychain MT for pliers but from unsatisfactory experience have determined that keychain pliers are a waste of space.

So for activity carry I settled on the Rebar on which I modded the blades to be non-locking.  Still needed to cover scissors so I fitted Victorinoix scissors as an excercise.   I was then happy to carry only my Rebar PS(V).

But now having accepted the uselessness of keychain MT pliers, enter the Micra.  The scissors are brilliant.  From now on I probably won't require scissors on a full sized MT.  So a (non-locking) Rebar plus Micra for me.

I am a maximalist and my EDC has stabilized.
In the Skinth Catchall:
Charge TTi, Spirit, Swisschamp XLT, Opinel #8 Jardin, many accessories, adjustable wrench
On keyring:
Minichamp, Ladybug
These are carried every day, everywhere.
I also keep a Swisschamp by my bedside, used daily, and the rest are in a drawer. I reach for the Squirt for grooming very often, and the Surge from time to time. The others more rarely.

Depends on the tool.  For the most part I carry a dedicated folder and a SAK along with my multi.  Today though I'm carrying my Charge, so no OHO folder.  I've got my Super Tinker and Case mini Trapper along for the ride as well. :tu:

The title of the thread is backwards for me.

The question is, what do Leatherman products do I carry to supplement my EDC knife.

For me its an Opinel in RFP and Micra in LFP (with money clip).
EDC Pair by Pinnah, on Flickr

For day to day life, my Blast rides in my backpack as a back up to the Opinel/Micra pair.  It's not needed often but when it is, it is.   Honestly the Opinel/Micra combo covers 99% of my needs.

Working in the shop or around the property on weekends is another matter.  My Wave goes on my belt then but I hate carry crap on my belt so it goes right back on the shop bench when the chores are done.

That's a nice combo.  I personally do not like much in my pockets....which is why I am trying to stick with just one tool (the Rebar) for a while to see if It can work for me.  I carry the Rebar in an old leather box sheath from my Kick since it fit perfectly.

One day I would like to own a micra, they look well made.  I currently have a Style CS that was a gift from a friend, but the Micra looks like it's a more substantial way to get a small pair of scissors.  Might be wrong, I've never handled a Micra just seen photos.

I love the Style CS. It was my first letterman along side the Skeletool it came with. Sadly, I keep sending it back to Portland because the knife's backspring is aluminum and keeps cracking of on me.  Micra is all steel, and unlike most Leathermans, it's nicely polished and has never rusted a bit.  The tools, even the scissors are better, despite the "over bite" everyone complains about. I'll still carry the Style with its big sis the Skeletool, but the Micra is the grooming tool of choice when I'm carrying the Wave, ST300, or Wingman.

A SAK plus a folding blade which has currently been my Tenacious.  I rotate between my Explorer, Deluxe Tinker and Wenger Tradesman.  There are time when all I need is super tweezers so the DTinker or Tradesman are perfect.  I feel like any MT/SAK combo is having the best of both world.
