Gareth do you have a favourite from those six?

The Senators without a doubt.  Just a tiny bit more compact in the grip than the Lamb or Sheepsfoot and so sits a tiny bit lighter in the pocket without feeling small in the hand.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

My second Michael may custom, a small penknife arrived today and it has a few issues, two of which are glaring.

I never believed he put anymore time, love, care or attention  in to his custom knives than he does his off the shelve knives, but it does feel more personal when you get one with issues.

The first is the recurve ground in to the already tiny pen blade.
I checked his website and the one pictured does not have this recurve, just a fuller, straighter standard pen blade as you would expect.

The second issue is the relief cut in to the handle for the nail nick is in completely the wrong place.

I own four m may knives, two custom and two of the shelf from an online dealer and the two which have had issues are the customs.

This picture is from his website and the pen blade  does not look like my mum has sharpened it using her electric knife sharpener that eats kitchen knives at an alarming rate. And even has a choil.

It’s annoying as this knife was not  manufactured by a series of faceless employees loading machines who individually could not care how the finished product turns out, to be shipped off to a retailer then on to a faceless customer.

But instead designed and built by one man from start to finish, and not any man but the craftsman whose very name the company bears.  To be shipped to someone who has waited over two months for the pleasure.
And surely day one of cutlery college  is knife sharpening.

And what really rubs salt in the wound is this is a Morley pen knife.

R F Morley built the historical knife works where Michael May is based,  and a batch of new old stock R F Morley blades came to light.
Which given Morley went out of business nearly 50 years ago means these blades are at least that old.

And this penknife was designed, built and marketed around these very blades. And then to do this to  the very same blades that are the whole reason behind this knife is a diabolical liberty of the highest order.

Sorry to see that Chip.  I have to agree that blade isn't up to any standard I'd be happy with.   :-\

He has seen that blade and the fact the nail Nick relief is in completely the wrong place and still thought “send it” . Says it all really.

I won’t be buying anymore of his knives nor recommending them to anyone else.

I have sent an email pointing out the issues, let’s see what he says.

* I called the knife a Morley pen knife, it is in fact a Mosley using old mosley blades.

That falls way short of the standards I'd set for a mass-produced knife, let alone a custom. I'm with Steve...demand a refund!

^ Thank you  zoidberg  :hatsoff:

And, I will admit, I am very surprised  too!

Even in the sheath, it rides discretely in my front right pocket.   And is easy to put use taking little effort cutting or slicing what I have required.   AWL with out damaging a single thumb nail😳

Interesting wee knife by William (W) Saynor.  Not sure I understand the handle.  Something for horticulture maybe?  Letter opener?  Just an interesting shape?
  Sam thought it just might be a doggy chew toy (like everything else in the house  ::) )

I didn’t know where I should post this so I chose here,, anyway, the kid is on vacation and at a friends and his buddy try’s something for the first time and makes the kid one, but then asks me, I was like heck yeah! So he went ahead and made another, only prob was it cracked and he said he’d make me another, so, here’s two pics cause there all that he sent me, he made them from construction rod iron, heating it up and making it into shape, then he sharpened it and says it will shave arm hair, which I did see a pic and he was missing hair! If looking at the one pic notice the metal at the end of the blade, it’s not it, it’s something in the background,,

I noticed these box cutter style folding knives designs are competing with regular pocket knives these days, and I finally ordered one.
No super steel, but not priced as super steel either.
The box cutters are razor sharp out of the box, and sharpening fuss is off the table, as a blade swap is easy peasy. A removable blade seems also handy when travelling.
Lightweight, great action for such a low price, super fidgety, and a good pocket clip. One downside for me is the short blade length.
Overall, this will be a great user.

That would have been my response, too. There's something about such a blade that really speaks to me.

Here’s a few pics of that knife the kids friend made me, not bad, not the best, I mean heck it was his third ever attempt at making them, besides that it’s my longest non-folding knife, I could give it a few touchups and even make a leather sheath, but I’m really in no mood to make one..
