Following the theme here of Jack Knives, next up is a Robeson.........

A Robeson Mastercraft Barlow to be exact. This is Queen built with a manufacture date of 2007. It sits in at 3 3/8" closed. Blades are mirror polished 420HC with a long pull master Clip that is swedged. Stamped bolsters are nickle/silver, and the pins and liners are brass. Scales are Sawcut Amber Bone.....

Fit and finish is excellent with stout backsprings, sharp edges, zero blade play, backsprings rest flush with blades opened or closed, and all that good stuff......

.......but there is a faint hairline gap on the pivot end between the secondary blade's backspring and the outside liner. Nothing big and not affecting anything, but it is there. Outside of that it's a sweet Barlow, and I really like that they stamped both bolsters on this one.

Just got this next one in yesterday. Another Queen-built Robeson.......

Not really a pattern I am into, especially at this size. But it is a Robeson and I got it for a song. The pattern is a Sleeveboard, but it is small at 3 3/8" closed. More of a Pen Knife really, and with a single backspring it is very slender and thin. It's Mastercraft branded with polished 420HC blades that are nicely swedged, fancy bolsters and shield of nickle/silver, brass liners and pins, and scales of Green Venetian Jigged Bone.

It's a good looking little slippie, and at it's size would disappear in any pocket........

Fit and finish is excellent, and for such a small pattern it has some hefty backsprings........

Not really of any pattern I collect, but of a brand and make I do. And for the price couldn't beat it.

bladechick777,

You are welcome. The American Workman series from Case is a good one to choose from, great knives for the price. I only have one from that set myself, the large #75 pattern Stockman with As Ground blades....

I think you'll like the Sodbuster from this series.

And just a few hours ago my latest purchase arrived.......

This one a GEC Northfield #56 pattern Dogleg Jack.....

It's 3 1/2" closed and barehead. Blades are polished 1095 carbon steel fully swedged with a long pull master. Bolsters are grooved and pinched and made from nickle/silver, as is the pinned on shield. Liners and pins are brass, and the scales are Spring Green Jigged Bone.....

Fit and finish is superb. Nothing more to say, it's a GEC......

Mine is serial number #5 out of only 25 made. This is my first of this pattern from GEC and I do believe I found another favorite. When these were first released a while back I didn't think much of them but now having one in hand I do believe I will be getting a few more of these.

Just (finally!) got these from Bladechick, a KA-BAR Barlow and an old Boker jackknife. Does anyone have any info on either of these?

They're both in very good shape, especially the Barlow. They just need a bit of TLC. When I told my boss I had a KA-BAR coming, he had something else in mind. Silly jarhead! :D

I'm Glad You Like Them Tom.
And I Oiled Them And Stuff And Cleaned Them Up Before I Sent Them.
I'm Not Sure How To Get The Spots Off. If You Even Can.
They're Both Sharp And Ready For EDC.
But Would Make Awesome Pieces In A Collection As Well.

Here she is, a Case sowbelly in smooth antique bone.

The bone feels great in my hand, almost like a yellow delrin.  She'll accompany me ice fishing next week.

django.cj,

Good looking Sowbelly, I really like the bone on that one. How's the fit & finish on yours?

Now that the pattern is out of the vault I need to get me some of these new ones. Years ago I started getting into Case's Sowbelly pattern and picked up a few......

Need to get some of these new ones that are out now.

Hmmm, still has CV blades and yellow composition handles, so the only possible culprit has to be my Sodbuster Jr! Damn, shouldn't have stored them that close together. You'd think these things would be fixed before they left the shop! >:(  I guess that's what spey blades are for, eh? ;)
