Makes you wonder why the GEC workers did not fix it since it was easy to see and easy to fix..

I have a Colt peanut witch need to have its kick filed.
I tried once and gave up after nearly scratching the whole knife.. Maybe i will try again, if it is easy.

true, it is a pretty obvious QC issue.
I used 600 Grit sandpaper, taped it to the top of a wooden cupboard, I covered the blade and bolsters with ducttape, so there would be no scratches, and then worked very lightly, checking every 10 passes to see what progress I was making. I worked out that if I wanted to sink the blade tip by about 1mm, I would need to take about 0.15 mm off the kick. Obviously I can't measure it exactly, but that just helped me to appreciate how little I should take off, I really didn't want the nightmare situation of doing too much, and having the blade hitting the backspring. I think it took around 100-150 strokes.

Case Humpback Stockman with red barnboard-jigged bone (Derlin?) handles.  Very nice F&F/W&T, courtesy of Ashley.

Two pointy beauties arrived today.  First up is this Imperial scout pattern with a sheepsfoot main blade, shown here with its' cousin, also an Imperial, who was drafted.  :)

Nice snap to it, would love to find out more about it.  Next up, an American classic-the Buck 301.

Ohhh, man, how have I never owned one of these?  Well, honestly, I've carried it's Chinese relative the 373 a lot.  But I love the lines of this knife.  One tiny gap in the backsprings, no effect on it.  Very snappy, great W&T.  I've heard some horror stories about US Bucks at times, sure unfounded if this is any indication.  This is my first US Buck slippie, BTW.  Won't be my last!  Sorry for the blurry pics, caffeine withdrawal.  :) And, of course, the camera just died.  Both will get separate write-ups, I'm sure.

Got this today as a nice surprise.  A couple of weeks ago I'd referred a customer to a contractor, and the guy got the job.  Today he came into the store and handed me this as a thank you.  Very nice of him, he didn't have to do that.  We talk knives and tools all the time, his EDC is an MP600 which has seen a TON of use, and an old Case CV Sodbuster, the big one.

Case CV Slimline Trapper.  4 1/8", 3 1/4 blade.  Very light and handy, it carries very nicely for a decent sized knife.  F&F are perfect, not a gap or blemish to be found.  I don't give out guys' names looking for something in return, so this was a very nice and unexpected gesture on his part.  If anyone in North Jersey needs their house painted, contact me, and let's see what I get next.  :D

Another beauty, courtesy of Ashley - a Queen Cutlery Moose, one of a limited run done for Bladeforums in 2010.

This is a massive slipjoint!  It's around 4" long, and 1/2" thick.  The blades are equally big and solid.  It's a heavy sucker, heavier than my Buck 301 for sure.  The handles are ebony, and the nickel silver bolsters and liners stand out very nicely against them.  The fit and finish is perfect, and the blades open with a very satisfying snap.  This is my first Queen, and I love it!

Yeah, this thread has cost me more money than any other on the forum, I think.  >:(  :D  So what do you think Chrissy, shelf queen or user?  It's too pretty to get all banged up, but too solid to just sit in a box.....

Ooooh, so hard! :ahhh

I would want to use it but not hurt it very much. It is too pretty to beat on :D

I don't keep Queens unless they are an investment of sorts, so most of my gear has at least some signs of use.

that's a really nice moose pattern, it looks quite elegant although it is very big. I would be inclined to use it, but that is just me, I just find that part of the fun of owning a knife is to be able to use it.

I think it's going to see some use.  It's too nice to let it sit hidden..... It's not going to be a work knife, that's for sure.  I'd be horrified if I got some paint or solvent all over it.  For casual carry though, It'll be in my pocket.  :tu:  In fact, it's there now.....

I use knives that are too nice to use as "Sunday knives". It feels wrong with shelf-queens, and when you put on formal clothes to go to something formal and boring, it's good to carry a nice knife.

I like it when Ashley buys herself something nice, because then she sells other great stuff to pay for it!  :)

GEC Tidioute Patriot Barlow.  The reverse of the blade is marked "1 of 50" , and the bolster is etched with an "03".  Came new in the tube with a certificate showing a manufacture date of July '08.  VERY pretty.  Before this sees any pocket time I'm going to have to find myself a pocket sheath.

What a pretty little knife!  I like the wharncliffe main.  Fits nice in my hand, though a bit smaller than I thought.  It's a bit smaller than even my Texas Jack, but has plenty of blade for EDC.  The color of the bone is beautiful too.

its a great little knife , I have mine in my pocket right now. The bone has such a great depth of colour, and once the blade gets a bit of patina to it, the colour combinations look even cooler.

btw, does your SBJack appear to also have a pinned shield? I could be wrong, because from the outside the shield looks like the standard plastic looking inlaid one, but there is a definite welding spot on hte liners underneath the shield on mine.

There is no mark on the liners on mine.  Not sure what that means, though....  This swayback was made in '09, if that helps.

I guess its just a cooincidence, it would be strange if case were using pinned shields on their normal knives.

I got this A G Russell sodbuster (or 'rancher') today. its in black micarta or rucarta. finish on it is perfect, and the snap on it is also perfect, it opens completely smoothly, and is completely solid in the open position, then as you close it, it is like it is being sucked back into the scales, if that makes sense. Same price as a case sodbuster, very good value for money.
