Ah yes.  There she is--the Humpback Whittler.  Red bone scales looking like cherry candy, and the patina still looks great.

 :dd:

I don't know why I really never got on with that knife.  It sure is pretty and has a great selection of blades.  I think it was just a bit too chunky in the pocket for me.

I've had a RR Barlow in my pocket all day. Unfortunately Photobucket is being a smurf and taking forever for a pic to upload.  >:(

Photobucket makes so painful anymore to use that you are forced to pay the no ad fee  :twak:

I meant to say something about your first pic of this knife.  You have something wonderful there.  Something that can't really be bought.  If that knife could speak, it would have some great stories to tell.

Now, I want to see more pics of that old Tonka!   ;)

It's the Turbine Hook and Ladder, which I bought a couple years back when I was into collecting large pressed steel toys.  It weighs eight pounds!   The ladder extends about three feet, but what appears to be one of the parts that made up the gumball lights on the roof got stuck in the mechanism, making it a bit fussy.  I cannot get that piece out of there.

DAY 3/30 Traditional

Carried downtown today. Picked up some magazines... Didn't have to twist any nuts or poke anything...

I thought JD said no SAKs before we started this challenge.

Anyway, today is my friend Eric's birthday. He is not a member here, but he is aware of this site and sometimes looks at it. So, just in case he's looking, Happy Birthday Eric!

Day 19
how about some more slip joints and coffee?

New radiator hose for my old beater this morning. The Queen #9 seemed like the perfect knife for the job.

Cool!  The only Coghlan's knives I've ever seen are really shotty Chinese ones. Didn't know Coghlans had ever rebranded Opinels  I had a Hobo growing up, and while it was an OK knife, as the Vics, and more recently, Leathermans came along, compared to them, it was utter garbage.  Miniaturized can and bottle openers don't work right.
