Wait, you're getting ahead of me. I haven't posted day 9 yet.  I was stuck in traffic for a couple of hours earlier this afternoon so I haven't had time to post yet.

Day 9
Here's the Schrade and the Uncle Lucky together after a clean and polish.

They look great Alan!!  :2tu:

Very nice Meta!!!!

JD, are any of your Bucks double liner models? That's how they adjusted the blade rub back in the old days....neat idea I thought.

Here's a pic of  Dad's.
(Image removed from quote.)

No. My Bucks are fairly new manufacture, not vintage pieces. I'd LOVE to get my hands on a Camillus-made 301......

It's definitely been a mixed bag this summer.  Two days ago; lovely sun and warm.  Yesterday; wind and rain.  Today; sunny again.  Still, it's better than last "summer" where it pretty much rained non-stop.

Coincidently I just got a package through from Moonraker.  Used my Canoe to open it up and get my new Barlow. :D

I hadn't realised this one was quite so small, but I'm a fan of smaller knives so that's OK.

Nice one. :tu: A three-spring Case Stockman? That's a new one to me. The only three-spring ones I own are Bucks.
Yeah, it's called a "medium stockman," but that name more commonly refers to the two spring #18, which is also slightly smaller. The #47 doesn't exist in as many families as the #18. I actually don't have any of the two spring ones, but I like the extra room you get in the three spring version. Less likelihood of blade rub.

I'm going to have to seek one of these out...  The only 2-spring stockman I have that has zero blade rub is my GEC/Tidioute #66.  But, they've gone to some length to keep them from rubbing--the grind, crink and twist.  Blade rub has never really bothered me though, as long as the overall build is good and tight and it doesn't interfere with opening and closing.

Assuming your Canoe is the same length as mine, then that Barlow is quite a bit shorter than the two-blade one I've got.  Cute little knife.

Traditional Challenge Day 11

Canal Street Cannitler w/D2 blades & Amber Stage Bone scales

Well built by Queen in their excellent D2 tool steel as a hybrid of the traditional canoe and whittler patterns, this knife is a bit of an enigma.  A large, thick, two-spring-wide main spear is paired with thin spey and sheepsfoot blades.  It's beautiful, useful knife, but I have a hard time considering it a whittler, as the spey and sheepsfoot blades are a bit large for fine work.  The heavy-duty spear also sits a bit too proud of the frame when folded to make for comfortable whittling.  Regardless, I do like to carry it simply because the three choices of blades cover a wide variety of tasks, similar to a stockman in use.

Only thing I have that's close is a "Gunboat Canoe"  made for by the NKCA club by Rodgers/Wostenholm in England but it lacks the cool Whittler blades.

Very cool Dean!  From what I've read, those Camillus era knives come both ways, single and double based on the if cutler assembling them needs to fix the blade rub on one. This info comes "300Bucks", a very knowledgeable Buck collector over on BF.

Yes, it is similar to a Gunboat in function.  I suppose the main difference would be the thickness of the main blade and frame.  The gunboats I've seen have a 1 spring or 1 layer width main blade.  Does your gunboat have a liner between the layers?  The Cannitler doesn't.

That old Rodgers is very nice!
