Good choice!
:tu:

Thanks Nate! It is a great knife and the fit and finish is very nice. There is a little blade rub but that doesn’t bother me in the slightest and just adds character in my opinion.

Thank you

I can not help myself!  I have catch tray on the end of the counter, a Navy Blue Tribal Lock, a Matching Sod Buster and the Yellow Sod Buster!   I find myself instinctively picking the Yellow🤪.  Just because, maybe it was because of the neglect it suffered via the previous home it sat at!

Tinner - I am partial to Stockman patterns, and luv the 75 model too!

Gareth - You and your Teardrop inspired me to bid on my 6.5 Model, never a Tear was dropped until it arrived.

So what brands should I be looking at for some nice new Traditional knives?
I will suggest looking at the Queen line that SMKW have produced.  The WINTERBOTTOM bone pattern on my Canoes and Barlows is first rate.
Rough Ryder brand is good value to the $.  And a large variety of options including their Reserve line which is high quality.
Schrade Old Timers are nice.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

The Trapper is CASE’s signature pattern.  They do a nice job for the most part, maybe the best selection of handle materials. The Amber bone looks hook and I have an orange in G10.

If you can located the Buck trapper on eBay, you will get an excellent made knife. Model number for USA model is 329. Made by Camillus for Buck till 1988 and sold via SMKW.

Is Case USA made?

That RRR line seems pretty great.

CASE is USA made.  They make blades in two flavors, Surgical Stainless (SS) or Chromium Carbon (CV)?   CV s typical $5 or more if used. It is desired for users.

I have a two RRR, F&F on mine are very good to excellent 👍
Rough Ryder, Queen and Marble are brands owned by Smokey Mountain Knife Works

So they are all likely made at the same factory in China. The quality is typically very good. And price is ideal for collecting. Blade steels are usually 440A yet some do have 440C. The RRR line are normally D2 steel.

I was looking at Case and saw some made with S35. Spicy

Do you know the difference between Carbon and SS?

Looking for a good Trapper style knife.

I would look on ebay for vintage trappers by Case Schrade or Queen all made in the US. If you want Stainless Steel Schrade Uncle Henry, Case or Queen would be the ticket.

There are quite a few nice Trappers for sale on the AAPK store
