Never in the history of ever has a knife pivot snagged in my pocket.

Is that an issue so prevalent there had to be a knife made to combat it?

Still a super cool knife though.

Actually, in theory yes!   In England typical trousers were not made with pockets, men carried their pocket knifes (equal end style) in their vest pocket snd these vest were constructed of WOOL.
Many of the knife makers came to the U.S. to apply their skills making the same knives in the states.  Trousers state side were made of wool as well, but pockets were added, made of cotton.  The pivots would rub against the cotton creating holes in the bottom of the cotton pocket, and since currency of the day were coins, many a coin slipped out of the pocket down the pant leg, and onto the ground.  This required a pocket mender to repair and if the man’s wife, she wanted to what was carried in that pocket. She examined and determined his cigar trimming EE pocket knife was the cause. And I am sure a Davy American knife apprentice solved the issue by creating the Canoe pattern by raising the blosters higher to conceal that pivot.

And the rest is HISTORY, believe it or not!

The Copperhead is another older pattern that adopted the same feature only required on one end as both blades share the same pivot.
🙄🤪😎
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

PS: I have carried a pocket knife since I was 8 yrs old and experienced many a pocket developing a hole.  Mom would stick up, and pocket would become less deep each time.
My dad too!  He always had a Muskrat knife with him.  Mom was pretty good pocket sticher!  And a knee patch applier.

I even could carry a pocket knife to school :ahhh  slice and Apple for lunch and wipe the blade on pant leg when done!

I don’t remember seeing anything about 717Y on the listing. Is this something I missed or just your knowledge of it?
717Y is the pattern number Camillus used for the standard Yello-Jaket Trapper. They awlso made a Yello-Jaket Trapper with double lock backs. I forget what pattern number it was, and they're neither easy to find nor cheap.

LoopCutter, sorry to hear that the new knives were not up to par. Hopefully that will be rectified.

And, as usual, great carries from awl! :tu:

Nice selections, Gareth, GA1Dad, and Adam5.  And, great setting for your knife photograph as well.  A closeup of the knife when you get a chance as it resemble a Congress but three blades.

Spalted Beech update!

Just received a final reply from Moonraker Knives, UK.

Earlier a reply was received this morning very early, indicating the product they shipped was manufactured with stock on hand and due to supply shortages, the bolsters appeared to be applied with inventory in stock and assured me both covers were of the same Spalted Beech. And, they had no control.

I did reply, that fully understood that they were at the mercy of the manufacturer, yet they did inspect the product before shipping and it was not as detailed on their web page.  I agreed the scales could me the same wood, from different trees or limb.

I appreciated their followup and blamed myself for purchasing an item without inspecting personally.   And hoped they shared my concerns with A Wright and Sons. Releasing Moonraker of any concerns regarding the product received.

The final reply, mentioned in the first sentence, was a message that they will refund by purchase price for the Spalted Beech.  Not what I requested.  I had hoped they shared my concerns with Wright and Sons, since this was an exclusive to Moonraker Knives.

AWL is WRIGHT with Moonraker and me☺️

Y'awl have been rapid-fire posting some excellent knives! :tu:

Early this morning, the 33OT rotated out, and the 3318 rotated in. I seized the opportunity and got a photo of them together.
