Metallic knives
I decided to shoot some pictures of
folding knives that have practically 100% metal construction.
Most knives will have a metallic skeleton or body, but they will also have covers/scales/handles/inserts made from wood, bone, stag or a composite material.
A typical SAK, like the classic or the Spartan will have aluminium liners SS parts (a metallic skeleton) but it will have plastic, nylon covers.
A standard buck 110, again, is mainly metallic, but it will have wood inserts.
These are purely metal, some are old fashioned, traditional knives and some are modern locking folders.
The most well known ones will be the Victorinox Alox models, but Schrade Century also made some knives with aluminium handles (hint – the red one)
Victorinox also uses other types of metals, including SS and silver
These are pure metal
There are also modern metallic knives.
Here we see the SRM 710, which is just SS.
Spyderco makes some too
Some knives will be easily recognised as being purely metallic
Others will have painted metal, or metals of different colour
Some are just rubbish...
Here is a trapper (RR)
And 2 lockbacks (RR)
For something unusual but traditional you may want to try a higonokami from Japan
Or a Douk-Douk from France
Maybe a Mercator from Germany
Or a Svord peasant from NZ (seriously, do not – this is not the model you want to buy...
)
Or, you can very easily make your own
Some of them together

They are from my photobucket account, so maybe there was a temporary issue with photobucket?
Let me know if you still have problems, so that I will just attach them to the thread.

I believe one of the most popular all metallic folders are the Gerber Paraframe series (mini and large)
I think they're quite nice cheapo (budget) folders, anyone agree?

I was gifted a 111mm DAK by a friend of mine, a few years ago. I returned the gesture with a Mikov Smart, as he's quite fond of polished stainless. The pic is not my own since I no longer have the knife.

Thanks to all for the kind words. That little knife I almost didn't buy because I didn't think it was a knife. It was mixed in with a bunch of miscellaneous stuff at a flea market. I think I paid a dollar for it because it was so unusual;which is my latest passion in knives. They don't have to cost much or even be super precision made as long as they are unique.
