Thanks bro! Uncle Justin is my "TV CHEF HERO" grew up watching him on PBS in NC.

Like a good Trad folder some things are classics.

He was Cajun when Cajun wasn't "cool" in the US...it just was. Guy was arguably most responsible for elevating the American consciousness as a whole toward the enjoyment of learning to cook LA cuisine and eating it more often.

Day 20 Another oldie but goodie :D It is a giant 2 blade trapper :dd: made by Old Hickory with brown plastic handles :tu: I got this knife many years ago from my Pa (mother's father ) who bought this for me at a yard sale as he knew I loved knives  He is probably one of the reasons that I do though  :D I used this knife a lot and probably abused it as a young boy out in the back yard and woods would do  It is razor sharp now but it took a bit of sharpening to get it back that way after it going through a great part of my boyhood  I really :like: this knife but it is a bit big for pocket carry IMO ;) That is why I picked today for this knife

Day 22 I have a Case for you today :tu: It is a 6333 stainless steel little 3 blade stockman with bone handles  I bought this knife at least 7 or so years ago I think  and carried it for just a bit and then put it up :D You can tell from the comparison shots that it is a very small knife but still very capable :like:

I looked it up and that is what it said but it does look like bone to me  Maybe I looked it up wrong  That is why I included the numbers so maybe someone a bit more expert than me might know better :D

I will go with bone then :tu: I probably have the box somewhere and I may see if it tells on the box but it sure doesn't look synthetic but I was going with the internet  and you know what they say "if it's on the internet it must be true"

Day 24 I have an old Case XX with me today  My dad found this knife by the railroad tracks in front of his house as he was walking home from school one day :tu: My hometown was a much busier version of itself back then with a fairly large coal industry that the train really profited by so knowing whose knife it would have been was impossible then so he kept it :D He gave me the knife several years ago along with some of the others I have carried this month :like: It is a 2 blade jack knife from Case with smooth red bone handles :dd: The number of the knife is 6231 1/2 for those keeping score ;) I researched this knife several years back and actually remember that part or at least I think I do, they do look like wood but pretty sure it was bone  Most of them with that number have jigged bone but this one being the age it was also had a smooth bone version  I do however forget what year it is but I have looked it up before  Perhaps some of our more expert Case collectors could put some of that info here in the edged tools forum so someone like me would be able to find the info better as my googlefu  is weak on this matter :D Now for some pics :tu:

"6" is supposed to indicate jigged bone or Delrin, according to Shephard Hills.  However, that is obviously not jigged.  It appears to be smooth red bone to me.

There are a few of use with 6231 1/2 Cases around here.  Mine is actually a 31 SAB (sabre blade) with black Delrin scales.  They have pretty stout springs.
