My kind of knife, reminds me of the old eskilstunas that always were very used around here, that engraving seems really nice  :tu:

My modest collection of fixed blades.

From Left to right: Condor Tool and Knife Golok Machete; Kabar 1236 Bowie; Gerber Pro Guide; Gerber Big Rock; Condor Tool and Knife Tavian; Mora 2000 "Neverlost"; Mora Heavy Duty Companion F; Becker BK14.

I also have a Kershaw Camp 10 on order, that I got the shipping notice for today.  It should be here in a couple of days.

I'd be cautious about using it for anything like batoning and the like... YouTube is full of videos of the big Ontario knives snapping in half.

I'd trust an Esee, but not an Ontario.

Thanks, Sparky! :)

Got my Camp 10 today too... very impressed with it so far.  I'm going up to the Sierra foothills with my wife and kids this weekend for the Memorial Day weekend, and I'm gonna take it with me and try it out.  I'll compare it to my Golok for chopping and batonning and give a report back next week on how it does.

that's true. I think Rowern does a better job with the whole heat treatment thing when compared to ontario

http://www.eka-knivar.se/ they are known as eka nowadays. There is a full line dedicated to butchers and kitchen use sold around here, they even have a factory here. Most butchers i know use them and for good reason.

I cannot really justify this purchase further than I wanted one.  I have had the Chris Caine companion knife for about nine months and find it useful in the garden.  However on looking recently in the Heinnie Haynes mag I saw that Stanniforths have started doing a skeleton knife.  A quick phone call and on was ordered ( the factory is only about 5 miles from where I live). I turned up on the allotted day only to find they did not have one waiting for me.  George the Forman was very apologetic and asked could I come back a bit later.  He also explained that they were out of sheaths but would sort something out.  I dutifully came back later and indeed a box was waiting for me.  I was a little miffed when I was charged full price.  However I did let them off on opening the box to find not one but two of the blades and a packet of sweets for my youngest who I had dragged along with me.

Anyway here are the pics

That's great to hear Mark! As you know I went to the same factory and met the key players too. Was it Chris that sorted you out the deal, or was it George? Either way I am really impressed with the lengths they go to in order to ensure their customers are happy. I never got a free knife , but I did get a reasonable discount, and a free modification/adjustment of the handles by Barry (who makes them). They have certainly won me over as a customer, and I do keep an eye on their gear and will certainly buy again.

So ..... this spare knife .......  ;) :P :D

Nice!

Reminds me of the Gerber LHR tactical knife... the only Gerber I've been seriously jonesing for in several years now, unfortunately.

Just bought this Bahco 2444, my first fixed blade other than kitchen knives.
I didn't know they existed and thought it was a Mora imitation, but it is a real Swedish.

Yea, they are the real deal. I have to go and buy some more as I gave away all I had. Considering the Mora Clipper sells here for $30 ::) these are a must have. Only advantage the Clipper has are slightly better handles and better fit in the sheath. (These tend to rattle a bit)

I liked the handle and the way the knife clicks in place into the seath. I'm going to use it in the kitchen a lot but could I dive with it? It seems perfect for that purpose.

Depends what you plan on doing with it. If you plan to dive for mussels and such it might be enough. I'd add some sort of ranger band on the sheath at the handle part so you can pull it over the knife handle. I wouldn't trust it to remain in place.

I could buy 10 of them for around 80 euros. Wow! Morakniv has some cheap knives, but this is half price. Opinel like.  They have a multitool too, MTT151, with interesting serrated blade.
