Very nice, VICMAN!

I'll be toting the Cherry 110 for the next 10 days--traveling to the great state of Minnesota. Might not be able to post pictures to this thread, but I will if I can.

Thanks, LC.

Each 110 seems to be special in it's own way. Each of the 110's I use is special to me.

I don't want to order another 110.....but I can't help but think that I haven't seen my last 110.  They are like SAK's that way.

Agreed, I know when I select a knife, I purchase with the intention that it will be a user.

Yet, as I discovered implementing my $28 plain diamondwood, most common, model, that knife is a worker, easy to maintain its sharp ready status, and that it is just plain comfortable in hand doing any cutting tasks I need.

And that it is even beautiful as received.  Seeing the different scales you awl own just enticed that want gene.

Being practical, wanting different and a worker, I ordered and have been using the LT model, also a Aluminum model with black Micarta scales for lighter weight versions.

Oak, Cherry, Walnut scales just add a dress up function for that WOW factor.

A new model will be sought, will just browse till the “luv at first sight” occurs. ;)

I'm rather far from home today.

Having the 110 at my side is comforting me.

I love hearing that the 110 is with you as a companion knife, Mechy. :tu:  And that the sheath is working out. Based on your experience here, I may not use the Tan-Kote again, so I learned something, too.  :tu:

And thanks, El P.  :salute:

I'm glad you guys have found a certain fondness for the venerable 110.

I should get it wet again and see what the result is.

I hope Santos isn't going to show up here now...

But I'm afraid to :dwts:

Then again, can't carry the 110 during the weekend anyway, so I just might...

I will have to check out a friction sheath. Once done with job commitments and site restrictions, I see this style as a big advantage for my 110 of the day carry. ;)

No harm done!

Cleaned the sheath with a special leather cleaner (about 5 times)
And alot of the colouring came off.

I then applied 2 coatings of leather care and rubbed it back to a satin shine.

If this doesn't help, I've got 2 more products that can help me out.
They might ruin the leather though, so I'm keeping those as a last resort.

The dye is Fiebing's leather dye. It's a water-based dye, which is somewhat helpful when shaping a friction sheath. I let the dye dry really thoroughly after applying, so theoretically it should be set. But, like you, I've seen some of the dye come off with water. (I had this happen with a belt I purchased commercially, too). The excess dye should dissipate over time.

Maybe I should rinse the sheaths after dying them to get rid of any excess dye. I'm not sure about that. Perhaps a more experienced leather craftsman would have some advice there. But that's a good reason to dress the sheath with a little wax.  :tu:

Oh, a little rubbing alcohol will clean off the dye from your hands.
