Day 24 - Typical work day. Spirit spent most of its day in its sheath until I got home.

Spiral peeled a mandarin, aka having fun with the chisel

Opened a package of beef wieners to add to sauerkraut later

And the sharpened cable cutter from earlier in the day

Oh, and was helping a woman with her car headlight she needed replaced. Was trying to use the long flat driver to help release the clip - to no avail. The blasted wiring harness only gave 6 inches of movement. And she was trying to replace a headlamp requiring inward locking tab with one that had outer locking tabs.

Did not whip out the phone to take photos.  :P

Day 21

We were hiking today and I used the Spirit's large screwdriver to switch the tripod mounting plate from the camera body to the lens bracket and back again, after I was done using that lens.

It is actually comparably small. There are some really big lenses out there. Look at that puppy:

Day 25 - Got home late. Hastily put up some plastic sheeting to block a chill breeze coming in at the trailer. Ran a bit short, yet is better than nothing. Wanted the thermometer back up, so used the chisel to poke a slit inside to mount the thermometer. - Will have to get more plastic sheeting and some lathe material.

Took an indoor photo of the Spirit X alongside an older screwdriver that I grew up using as a kid.

Yepp, that thing is a monster. Would love to try it out, but with that deposit there is way too much risk  :ahhh

Day 22

Used the blade to prep a banana and berries for my oatmeal

Then I used the awl to scrape out some limescale that had built up around the breathing valve of my drinking bottle. I had first soaked it and gave it a good brush with a toothbrush, but still could not get everything off. The awl cleaned up the rest. I lightly scratched the plastic in the progress, but that is better than seeing that white limescale on the black plastic everyday. My OCD did not like that

Today was also MT cleaning day. The Spirit only got a light spa treatment. I like my pliers more loose, so I added some additional oil to them. Works just fine now  :tu:

Day 26 - Spent most of the day driving at the government job. 140 miles under my butt. Stopped at the VFW Memorial Park for a break, then went to get some Fosters Lager before returning home. Sat down and used the can opener as a Tab Popper. :D

Since the washer parts came in was time to install them to fix the agitator, which worked afterwards! Easy fix.

Did the scissor mod using a KF4's diamond file. Took a tad, tested, took a tad more, tested, then filed the slight edge the file created. Has more bite now!

Good work Outback.  :like:
I blame MTo for everything I do now...getting me interested in MTs, buying a Spirit X, doing the scissors mod before even carrying it...
Bit mostly, knowing I’m not insane for having this interest, or at least knowing there are other mad people like me out there.

Day 23

Coming back from our morning walk this morning, I noticed that one of the fins on the doors' weatherstrip was loose. Eventually I will have to replace it, but there are still 3 rows of intact fins, so it should be good to go for a while. Used the scissors to cut off the broken one.

Also used the Spirit again while working on a leather sheath. Scissors to cut thread and pliers to pull the needle through some holes.

Day 27 - Reinforced the flagpole with a rope and zip ties this evening. Don't trust those plastic mounts. Also checked the screws, all three were loose.

Did not get out much today, more driving than anything. Have to give the Spirit a bath as something was making the joints stiff and the blades did not want to come out easily.

Also made a wiener and pepperoncini sandwich. Very good too!

When I opened the scissor jaws I had used some oil that was laying about. Am guessing that oil gummed up the release/locking mechanism.

Gave the Spirit X a bath in hot water and dish washing soap. Opened tools in clusters, and found the chisel or the main blade could open with the other tools opened, but not both the chisel and main blade. Took some work to get those freed up, and used a plastic brush of sorts to scrub inside the & under the tools as they were all open. Gave it a second bath in clean water, and did not apply any oil, Dried the parts.

Tested after bathing, after wiping the metal parts down. Will let it air dry, and try adding some oil only to the pliers later on, work that in, and wipe the excess off.

Found another good use for the chisel. Was sitting down to gnaw on a huckleberry candy cane, broke off a piece, and could not find the ends of the plastic wrapper. Whipped out a freshly bathed Spirit X, got the chisel out, and removed that wascally wrapper!

But then, trying to take a photo of such and not having a third arm/hand was a feat in itself. Makes ya wished there was a plush animal you could throw on your shoulder to aim and focus the iPhone 7 towards the project at hand. :ahhh
