Day 30:
The three hombres:

For my final pic. of the Nessmuk I submit my three braves posing together this morning.

I’ll be writing my summary later using proper tools. iPhone and longer texts do not agree with me ;)

You reached the end! :like:

Indeed I did, and what a pleasurable journey it was!

Now, armed with my MacBook Air some thoughts on the journey and tools I chose:
Originally I debated between a tomahawk or large axe. Since I was still running 30 Day Axe challenge when Nessmuk commenced and was not aware of the 'one at the time' rule I picked the Rinaldi. It being a tool useful in both.
My late start is also explained by finishing the earlier prior embarking in this.

So, Rinaldi Competion Axe got onto the list partly by accident. Looking back it seems that is was a very good accident indeed. During the whole Nessmuk I did not once run into a problem/task requiring an axe that this Italian would've not handled. The long shaft, good balance and head shape (very different from other racing axes) do indeed a very good solid mountain man axe make.

My knife was Whiskey Corvid, it got the final nod over traditional Iisakki Järvenpää, an oversized puukko and my Texas Ranger woodsman knife. The reasoning behind the decision was the heft and kukri like shape. I was thinking I might need something robust one hand hacking and cutting power. As ever, it worked as its maker intended. Gets the job done. Also when fixing fences I did try to cut some fallen tree trunks with it. It could be done in a pinch, but would've taken approximately an hour of hacking. Rinaldi sorted that particular problem in seconds. So, Corvid did well, not not exceptionally.

My multitool choice was the SwissChamp. It did all and more, it is a Vic. after all. It had most tasks I think, most camera time for sure. There were few times during the challenge when SC was supported by other multitools, the Beretta Hammer tool and Swisstool at least. On these cases, bigger pliers and hammer were needed. SC might've sorted the plier prob in life or death situation, hammer no. Would've have to resort into a rock, knife or axe if real crisis. So, SC did quite well, leaving aside earlier mentioned instances. It would've done even better if it would have watch, alarm and timer in scales thought.

All and all, all my choices did their chores very well, the biggest surprise and hence my personal choice for my tool of the Nessmuk is the strange looking Viking axe from Val Brembilla, the Rinaldi Compertion Axe!

As closing, a very big thank you for the great person who put this whole think together. Sir comis, I salute you!
Also, thanks for all who took part and/or commented, a great thread and a good learning exercise!

Day 29
Also took apart a few Bic lighters.

The Bic lighters mod is pretty curious...I have seen people chopping them short as a flint and wheel device.  But gutting them empty is different.

 :hatsoff:

Almost done. :like:
Dremel for most of it, and the Rebar for the delicate carving.

This looks great!  I only have the copper ones, never knew anyone could actually carve one.  :tu:

A big Congrats to everyone who finished  :tu:

I had looked forward to this one, unfortunately life right now doesn't support the spirit of what this challenge is all about, and I didn't want to fake it.

Maybe next time
