It's a little chore to connect the phone to the laptop to move the pictures, so I prefer to do it once, in the afternoon.

And as for the fingernail adventure, at least the new Storm has a great little file. It'll definitely help any manicure endeavors.

I can empathize. It's something of a production for me, too.

You know, I should just buy a scratching post from PetSmart or something.

A little earlier than usual.
It is easier for me to post everything in the afternoon, but I'll try and do it a little earlier.

Also, I realized how dangerous the glass breaker is. Have you ever dropped your multi-tool on tiled floor? Well, if you happen to drop this one, and it lands with the glass breaker point-first, you'll ruin your evening and wish you were carrying something else. I did not drop it, just a thought.

How do you carry the tool? I would think that glass breaker would wreak havoc with your pocket linings in no time. Would be the first thing I would remove.

In the sheath, in my right cargo pocket. I like that it has the glass breaker. It gives it more character. But if I happen to drop it on my floor or toes I'll regret it.

Just don't wear glass pants and you should be alright.

The tool comes with a small rubber cover for the glass breaker. It could theoretically prevent the rip from destroying pants or glass, but realistically, you will lose the tiny cover immediately. It is tight on there, and I appreciate them providing it, but Ido not have it on the tool now. I would have already lost it.

Day 6

Also replaced a zipper on my hoodie. Used the wire-cutters to cut the zipper at the top to fit the new head, then just sewed it so the head could not come off.

And I put some cord to hold the building spring-loaded door open.
We have a slab of concrete for that but it is easier with the cord.
The door had a hook but it's broken off.

Zippers and doors? There's definitely a metaphor in there somewhere. Or at least a cheesy Twilight Zone intro.

Nice work!

Day 7

Ranger bands

I also removed some material from a corner of my bottle cutting jig to allow a razor blade to be installed.
The Phillips was a little short and it being in the middle and the tool being quite thick, I did not have enough clearance to drive the screw, even in a pistol-grip configuration. Thankfully the bit adapter provided enough length to drive the screw in.

Incidentally, a bottle cutting jig is a neat thing to have around your house. The last time I had one of those was in the early '90s. It was made of cheap plastic, which is the main reason it never saw the mid '90s.

Bit adapter: awesome tool or amazing tool?

Amazing. It fits so many multi-tools across many brands. :like:

Also, I battled with a coconut! :like:
First I stabbed it in the eye, to collect its juices.

Then started pommeling it with the glass breaker until it cracked.
Then I used the can opener to pry the two halves apart, and the blade to claim my spoils.

I cannot overstate the joy of donking up a coconut.

And hey, glass breaker! Good idea!

I crimped the hook screws into eyelet screws, and there you have it.

Is that coat hanger wire? That stuff is super useful. It's also a great test for wire cutters.

Day 9

Also put a ziptie and a tiny split ring in a Bic sparker.

I'm curious about that Bic sparker. Is that homemade? And is the zip-tie there to keep the top from coming apart? That's cool.

Now, why would you design a tool to accept replaceable cutters only to have them riveted in place?!?!?!

Other than tjat, it looks to be a very functional and practical tool.  :tu:

That is a very good question, I didn’t even notice that. Or is that just some kind of screw cover?

Yup. Carved grom an empty Bic lighter.
If you do not put a zip tie or wire or something, the wheel can come off when you spark it.

No, those are not screw covers. The wire-cutters are indeed riveted. There are many off-brand multi-tools with this set-up.

If I recall correctly, early promotion pictures displayed screws, see for example here (Allen or Torx): https://digisoftair.com/11758-large_default/roxon-s801-pinza-multiuso-storm-16-funzioni-edc-.jpg or here (Phillips): https://funshop.akamaized.net/products/0000061813/vs_image800.jpg?1582821300
(I have no relation to any of these sites, just found them through image search.)

It's probably an easy way to use a more effective metal for the cutters without making an entire set of plier jaws out of carbide or something.

Sounds plausible but, to think that I'll have to send in the ENTIRE tool back just to have the cutters replace when I could've done it ... no thanks; BIG turn off!

And to think they had them replaceable, as ComboTool pointed out...
