DAY 23

Weekend off  :tu: Weather rubbish  :td:

Here's a shot of my (back-up) "Bat-Belt" worn during my SAR stuff. I wear it as often we need to remove our Hi-Viz vests due to some Mis-Pers having an aversion to such (day-glo) equipment.

Moreover, it means that I'm not without a knife/torch etc. if not wearing my vest  :tu:

If a missing person has an aversion to the orange vest you can just tell them to get lost. :twak:

Day 23
It is now time for the Castaway portion of our challenge.  Can I open a coconut with what's on my belt?  I've already done the Outrider and the Spirit in other challenges so I guess I'll have to try to tear open a coconut with my phone.  Oh wait, I nearly forgot I'm carrying the Wissahickon Critter.  Let's try that instead. The initial plunge cut?  Like butter.  I cut all the way around to remove the top then made a couple of cuts down the side to segment the coconut husk so I could rip  the segments off the shell.  That was too easy with such a capable blade as the Critter, so, why do just 1 coconut when we can do 3?  They may have been sitting around longer than I remembered, 2 of the 3 were sprouting.  I then used the awl in the Outrider to ream out a couple of eyes on each coconut so I cold pour out the liquid and then I could crack open the shells and claim my prize.  Success.

I think I saw a coconut once (in Kew Gardens)  :dunno:
We don't get such exotica in Uxbridge, although I did fight a tramp for a tin of coconut milk  :duel:

Today I added the Magnum pocket axe. True to its name it carries like a knife and cuts more or less the same.
I used it to cut down some branches

Great work all! Sorry I disappeared, Mrs Geared has been dealing with (and now recovering) from a 1-2 Covid/secondary infection combo so I've not really been posting.

I'll join in again from tomorrow with the pictures, though my belt is permanently occupied!

Keep at it caped crusaders (and Surge, that Joker )

DAY 24

Snowy day here today. Naturally the UK (well, London) ground to a halt  ::)

Here's the "back-up torch" on my "back-up Batbelt" for my SAR stuff  :D It's not a brilliant torch but serves a purpose and works off AAA's which are always around (I carry 2 sets of them, just in case  ;) )

(this would be the updated version  :dunno: )

And here it is

IMG_20210124_203002 by juan pedro almeida, en Flickr

A very fitting hatchet for MF!

Made of some 440 steel. The wrenches were metric I reckon.
It came just with bit cover so I had to make it the sheath :D
A good thing about it is that it´s as discreet and non threatening as an axe can get.

I live in an urban setting but in a suburban area. I have and use an insert stove so I´ve an excuse to have axes -and even a splitting maul  ::)

The freeman 451 neck replaced the MK in the pouch. Quite bigger sut still small -the MK is really tiny.
