Vegemite toast with avo and tomato, add a boiled egg every few days, bliss.
During WESTPAC 2006, I had occasion to sample some Vegemite from Australian military rations. Not my thing.

Day 17

No use yesterday, other than freeing a frozen pizza from its wrapper. Instead, the Evo 23 is posing with a few other multi-tools (and a P-38) that are a little camera-shy.
USN 2000-2006

Culling of the knife and multi herds in progress...

Day 17

Use wise I opened some food packets and the package some survival cord came in. Pictures wise, extorting animal cuteness:

I think you need to grow up on it or lived here a long time, never met anyone who didn’t who likes it…same in NZ and UK with their different versions of Marmite, we all think ours is best too and the others inedible

Day 17
I had my evogrip 18 with me out in the garage. It’s a great knife - but needed to pull out my Leatherman wave when I needed a file for my PVC trim.
Rizio inspired me to get out my watch openers. I love the old alox, and I really like the crossbow tang stamps. Turns out only one is a Wenger. There are a couple of secretaries (I think) in there, too, along with their slightly larger cousin!

That’s a great collection, Tet! :tu:

Day 18.

Ditching the old Commander in favour of...the near identical evowood 10.  :D   Also realised that my day-to-day watch really deserves a mention here.

Going in thinking of chocolate and Nutella...Vegemite is definitely not going to be what you expect.  :D  I've never tried NZ Marmite but I have had Vegemite in years gone by.  It's no Marmite that's for sure but it would do as a good substitute if I had to.  ;)

I prefer not to read reference books like that.  It's not that I don't like them.  It's because they always tend to end up with me spending  lots of money.

Every time I buy a book like that, I always end up using it more for stuff I want to buy than reference.

A few years back, I picked up about a 30-year-old book called "Miniature Emergency Vehicles" by Ed Force; mostly for reference. I've used it for reference exactly once, but lost count on how many models I bought because of it. I ended up buying more models because of it (especially German and Italian). One of the individuals I buy the most diecast from was one of the book's co-authors, who is very active on another forum and has been selling off a lot of his collection for affordable prices.  I think a lot of the German 1/87 emergency models I bought from him are the ones in the book.

That is exactly what happens

But I like to think it gives you enough information to invest wisely and avoid getting scammed.

Unfortunately the prices of classic leverguns keeps me from buying very often. So mostly good information on the original loads and history for me.

That's cool that you've picked up some that are actually illustrated in the book

I'm a big Vegemite fan. Have one open jar and a back-up in the pantry!

I like it on toast or crackers, but it also makes a nice addition to soups, stews, and sauces.

The first time I tried it I used way too much and thought it was horrible. They key is to start using it sparingly....really, really sparingly. After a while I started using more and more. Now I seem to have developed a craving for it. Good stuff!  :tu:

I'd never heard of Marmite until operation desert storm. I got attached to some Brits to provide heavy recovery assets. They hooked me up and showed me what I was missing out on. Nobody else in my house will touch it.    :dunno:
Those desert rats also introduced me to Bovril.
