DAY 8

So today was a SAR kit maintenance day, as we had a shout a few days ago (ended well thankfully  :tu:)

I've decided to put the Antonini on the load vest (as back-up*) along with the regular Vic' RT  :dunno:

Let's hope neither are needed  ;)
Glad to hear all went well on the one call.

SAR is definitely one of those tasks you prepare for in hopes that your skills and tools aren’t needed or are sufficient if needed.

I really need to get in the habit of posting earlier, but here is today’s.  The Signal cut some zipties on new kitchen gear.

Your Cold Steel blade has two characteristics that were turn offs for me before this challenge: tanto shape and serrations. I can say that they are growing on me now. A plain edge sheepsfoot or Wharnecliff will always be my favorite (that's what works best for me at work), but I am gaining appreciation for other blade shapes and for serrations.

The micro-serrations are different, though I haven't figured out in what way.  If I'm honest, I don't like the tanto shape.  I got it years ago when I used to do things one shouldn't really do with a knife, I thought the thick blade stock near the tip would be helpful.  I liked it just fine, until I tried to make feathersticks with it, and I haven't liked it since

I didn't know you did that as well.  Very cool.  :tu:

I try, but it's getting more and more difficult with cuts at work  ::)

Glad to hear all went well on the one call.

Agreed there. Always better to be stood down (found safe) than to find the worst possible result  :dwts:

Today I was advised  :twak:by Mrs Surge that she required a couple of Bay leaves.
I was sent into the rain forthwith, returning victorious  :viking:

Not really a glamour shot, but not a use shot either.  The 940 helped cut some zipties, cut some fatwood, and opened some dog treats; but I forgot to take a picture each time.

Dried grapes.  I like them in quinoa with turmeric.  For reasons unknown, however, they can cause kidney failure in dogs.

Day 10

Ended up wanting to use scissors last night to open a packet, but I did the sensible thing and used my hands.  Today will be the final day using the Cold Steel Voyager, and I'll switch to a different Combo Edge blade tomorrow.

So far so good.  I haven't really put the serrations into action,  Lets see what the next 2/3 of the Challenge holds in store!

DAY 10  I used the pliers of the Signal while I was out putting up trail signs.  Cool pic, but it doesn't really count, so there's also one of opening the boy's Chewy order.

Day 10
Today I'm carrying the Myerchin W100P Marine Offshore System which means the sheath, knife, and the marlin spike are all included. I usually prefer to carry a smaller fixie as a substitute for a folding knife but this knife is comfortable on the belt and in hand.

Wow - a fixed blade that's part serrated and a sheepsfoot shape!  what can be bad about that?  Nothin'   :like:

And a nice little drink you've got yourself there.  I feel like these folding knives offer a bit more confidence in apple cutting duties compared to a SAK in many cases, And the serrations would come in useful for a tomato.   :2tu:

Powernoodle Day 11

I vivisect a myriad of Amazon boxes - almost every day - and normally use a box cutter.   But the CRKT Fossil was employed today and did a fine job.

Btw, a Box Cutter EDC Challenge would be most excellent.
