I own a 112: an orange Slim Ranger. Its a terrific knife. But I'd like to participate in next year's Fools of April Challenge. And now that I'm no longer on sea duty, why not get a 110?

I never knew that Buck created the 112 because Sailors were prohibited from carrying their beloved 110s. The rules for knives carried on board ship when I was in were,: no fixed blades, no double edges, and nothing over three inches.

That was a good read. Buck certainly was correct about the three-inch limit being imposed throughout the fleet.

A 112 would be a great knife for general shipboard use. Rigger's knives awlso excel on board ship. Of course, we cannot forget to add a multitool (Mr. Pinchy was popular when I was serving).

2000-2006. Now that I think about it, Mr. Pinchy may not have been available brand-new then. But I'm pretty sure it was at least a closely related model that was popular at the time. Many sailors (myself included) thought it was way cool to be able to deploy the pliers with a flick of the wrist.
