Having “Case U.S.A.” on the scale like that seems a bit gaudy.
:iagree: It reminds me a little of Rough Ryders with the "R" that takes up most of a mark side bolster.

Great work and great blades y'awl are showing!

Day 6

Case 65 pattern Folding Hunter

I like the amber bone scales, but having “Case U.S.A.” on the scale like that seems a bit gaudy.

I’ve put down many of my general thoughts on the single blade version of this pattern earlier in the thread, so no need to repeat them here.

This one, however, happens to be CV, so I decided to force a patina.  Before and after pics:
What did you use for the patina? I've seen similar results from an overnight soak in vinegar or mustard.

Day 06
My daily carry may seem like a bit much to some people but I always feel like I'm missing something if I try to leave any of it behind. Left to right Swiss Champ, Spirit tool, Nitecore P-12 (daylight spectrum) and the Ka-Bar 3189.  No use today for the Ka-Bar 3189.

Right you are.  ‘Twas about a three-hour soak in room temperature vinegar.

I've tried various techniques for forcing a patina, but my favorite so far is to stick the blade in a raw potato and leave it overnight.

Day 7

Family photo, bottom to top:
Mercator Black Cat carbon
Opinel No. 10 carbon
Rough Ryder carbon
Old Timer USA 7OT carbon
Old Timer USA 51OT
Uncle Henry USA LB7
Uncle Henry (late) LB7
"Big Boy" cheap (abt $5) lockback from SMKW

I included the Mercator and the Opinel because both were included in the original iteration of this challenge. I included the "Big Boy" because although it's dirt cheap it does meet the criteria, and seems to be not terrible for the price.

Hey, it works for you. That's what counts! I've been carrying a Juice, a Spartan, and two folders as of late.

Again, great photos and a stellar variety of knives from awl!

Well, that's the first week in the books.  I can change knives, but since I just got the Ka-Bar 3189 specifically for the challenge, I am inclined to stick with it.  It is really easy to carry and great to use anyway.  Today's picture is about as close as I think I can come to expressing a deep sigh of exasperation over the internet.

Day 7

Case 65 pattern Folding Hunter

The serrated portion of the edge made extremely quick work of this six pack ring, but I expect this would have been light duty for almost any knife.

Folding Hunter Challenge,,, Day 8,,, 1995 Case Blackhorn

Gotta jump on a plane and go to Louisiana for a few days for work. Got the Blackhorn in the toolbag with drills and such. Hoping the TSA won't snatch it out of my check in luggage/toolbag.

The knife completed the plane ride without getting "lost". Not much call for it today though.

Day 9

A.G. Russell Folding Hunter

Resting after a day that included trimming fingernails, opening envelopes, and cutting pizza.  A definite advantage to cutting pizza with a large blade like this is that I was able to keep the mess entirely on the blade and away from the pivot and handle, which made cleanup much easier.

A little bit of St.Claire's Nano Oil on the joint and worked in for a couple of minutes and the Ka-Bar 3189 is so slick now it feels like an auto opener.
