Lovely pair there Steve.  I especially like the texture of the lighter trapper's covers.  :tu:

That’s heartbreaking about your collection! I remember talking to my wife about what we would grab first if we ever had to evacuate in case of fire. The dog featured highly then the kids (we debated long about that). Now, however, there are my knives to think about…

Joking aside, I honestly don’t know if I could pick up and start again. Respect to you, SAKguy, for doing just that!
Picking up and starting again might not be such a bad thing.  Think about it.  Is having the collection really as much fun as it was gathering the collection?  I had a professor 30 years ago who collected Walther pistols and had examples of every model from before WW-1 through the 1980's.  He was one of the premiere Walther experts in the country before the age of social media and being able to ask a bunch of strangers in a forum, "what have I got?"  When he felt his collection was as complete as he could make it he sold almost all of it and started over.  I asked him why he did that and he said he enjoyed the hunt more than he did having the complete collection as it gave him a focus, a pursuit, to spend his time on.

A little different choosing to start over I guess than having to due to a loss like a fire. I get what your trying to say though.

I'm back to the Kershaw Culpepper Jack.  Having trimmed my thumbnails to nubs after ripping them to shreds on some of these stockmans I've been carrying I needed something that I could pinch open.  I couldn't recall if the Svord Peasant counted as a trad.  It is a slippy, but mine has the lime green plastic handle which we don't usually associate with traditional knives.  If it's okay I'll carry it tomorrow.

Interesting open nail nicks on that.  Is that from factory or a modification?
Factory.  This Stockman and a Trapper were recently released, and are notable for the holes in the blades rather than nail nicks (as you observed) and also for S35VN blades.

I did a slightly longer write-up of first impressions here:

I like it a lot.  It is slim so it carries really nice, and you can't argue with the price.  I think it was under $20 including the shipping.  Get yourself one. :pok:

Day 19 after action -

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Case Wharncliff handled all cutting duties to package a poorly built Swayback for Return for refund.

I like the slimness of this trapper style, single blade.  The green handles seem to me to have brownish tint the more I handle it.  Yes, I do wash my mits! Occasionally!😜
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Curses!   So I look back in the thread, to view your picture.  Very nice looking TRAD.

Find on for reasonable on the River site, it will arrive Thursday🤪

Then…  a recommendation is flashed befor my eyes, a Wharncliff blade, bluish Micarta scales, a Swayback  designed RR, and next thing I know, I have another knife being shipped by Chicago Cutlery, ETA unknown?

From here on, I may have to post and exit, to avoid more temptation.    :dwts:

They sure did. Your money went where it counted!

Today's pic is the other Imperial that belonged to my grandfather.

Day 19 (slightly late)

My plans to show another electrician's knife went to smurf and have been postponed until tomorrow. This time around, y'awl get to see the Rough Ryder tiny toothpick. It's better than an $8 knife has any right to be. A second shot of it next to the larger Imperial is included for a size comparison.

The price has gone up some since I got my Kershaw Culpepper but I think it's still a bargain and I hope you like it too.  I can no longer view this site with my wallet in the same room.  It is far too easy to open another tab and go right to one of the selling sites.  If I have to walk to another room to get my wallet there's at least a slight chance that I won't spend all of my money and have to eat Ramen Noodles for a week.
 :twak:
Since it seems you have about the same willpower as me, I like my Ramen Noodles with chopped green onion, spinach leaves, a teaspoon of toasted sesame oil, about a quarter cup of crunchy peanut butter, a dash of cayenne pepper powder, and when the noodles are done I drop an egg or two on top to poach in the broth.  I may also add sliced roasted pork or some other meat if I have any.

Day 20

A pretty new one to me; a Case Tear Drop designed by Tony Bose.  I love just about everything about this one other than the fairly light blade pull (even for a Case).  Not a deal breaker by any means though.

The teardrop Case is a nice one.  I'd like to find one similar but with a lanyard hole or a bail or some kind of loop on the end so I could attach it to a watch chain.
