Day 26(5)

I remembered seeing almost the same knife from Sos24 from Dean's trad challenge last year, and I was lucky enough to get one later on.  Side by side comparison to the smallest knife I own, from RR.

They truly did.  Thx McStitchy!!!!

Beautiful trads folks!!!!

Day 25
What my Dad referred to as his "Sunday go to Meeting" knife, the Schrade, Uncle Henry 885UH King Ranch Stockman. He'd carry an Old Timer 8OT all week but this model was his dressing up knife.
Very very nice! 🤪

My farther n law had one very similar, it came to me after his passing.  I took care of it and cleaned it up and then gave on to my brother n law after he relocated to Indianapolis along with a couple other items.
Miss that knife yet no regrets for letting him having his father’s pocket knives.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

So, just to be clear… Is the yellow Barlow really, really big or the RR just really tiny?  ???

Day 26

I'm carrying the Bear & Son Barlow again today, and I have one small complaint.  It's only a small complaint because it's something that I can easily fix myself - the factory edge on the blades isn't very sharp.  This is the first time I'll have to sharpen a brand new knife.

Here it is ripping through a bag instead of making a clean cut:

A beautiful pair of OLD TIMERS.
I recognize the Stockman, what is the other?

@Steve - I looked up model stamp, very unusual to me with the liner lock, was able to find examples.

I have one Bear & Son knife, a smaller version of a 110 hunter. It too was very dull, as if the process to sharpen was overlooked.

Missing  attention to details can separate the very good blade firms from the mediocre.

Interesting.  I wonder if it's intentional or an oversight.

They have a quality control problem with their MTs imo, so I am not surprised to hear about dull factory edges.

I may have been edged out in the chicken challenge, but I'm feeling pretty strong going into the fruit cobbler/crisp/crumble event.  Dutch Oven cobbler, fresh off the BBQ:

The Dean51 Traditional Challenge
Great Eastern Cutlery Bull Nose - Red Micarta
Day 26

A towel rack came loose this afternoon and I had to have an assist, cause the Bullnose wasn't designed for set screw work. I grabbed the closest thing available which happened to be a knockoff multitool of questionable origin.

Case mini Trapper today...

:like: That mini Trapper is a SHARP looking pocket knife.  I am fond of the full size trappers, but will have to examine the smaller options as this challenge has allowed many pen knives to be displayed.
