Day 15

Today, we have my favorite 91mm, the "Drunken Fisherman" Angler. IMO, this is the best front pocket EDC ever made. For a few years? in the early to mid 90s, you could get an Angler with no plyers, a corkscrew, and the multipurpose hook. Like a lot of people, I find a 4 layer SAK is just the right size to ride in my pocket during the day, and has enough heft to grip without being awkward (or shoving the blade too far off center.) The corkscrew is (obviously) better than the back side Phillips. And (in a more controversial choice) I think the fish scaler is the most useful "fourth layer" tool to add to the classic Climber loadout. It pokes, it prods, it's a cocktail fork! Mostly it's just a thin piece of metal with enough texture to wriggle into small gaps and grab/press things. I don't know how many paper towel dispensers I've unjammed... The sweet fish inlay is just the icing on the cake.

Day 16, September 16

The Waiter is one of my favorite kitchen assistants. For some reason, the kids also prefer this type of can opener to the regular Vic one.

There’s also something about nylon scales that make it perfect for kitchen use.

Keychain knives are a great way to be prepared without having a lot of extra bulk, and this Victorinox Rally is always a great option.

Similar to the iconic Victorinox Classic, the Rally drops the scissors in favor of a combo tool which features a bottle opener, Phillips head screwdriver and a wire stripper.  And, with the screwdriver (SD) tip on the nail file, the Rally is very well equipped for just about anything you may encounter.

See all the details about the Rally at the home of the Swiss Army Knights, SAKWiki.com! https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Rally

:like: and  :like: But every one in this thread is a winner! :tu:

Day 16

I bought this (sober) Fisherman with the intention of preserving it, then decided to make it a carrier...but for now, it's back to being preserved. Oddly for a modern SAK, it was packaged with a leaflet. I hope I didn't get a leaflet intended for a different SAK.

No he had a Fisherman ........ or did he come to see you?    ???

So Important Question for the Boss .......
And/or for all of you - for that matter!!!    :D

How on earth are you deciding which model to post each day?   ???
  • Randomly opening the drawer/cupoard and pulling one out?
  • Choosing super cool models?
  • Choosing models with good Wiki pages?
  • Making sure you have a wide and varied selection?
  • All of the above?

PS. Loving this thread

I have been challenged by someone who shall remain nameless to post different versions of the same model for a week- and I have chosen the Victorinox Trekker, also known as the Trailmaster!

This model is one of my favorites, and is quite popular.  As you can see, this is a two handed version, and the first of many Trekkers in my possession, but what really makes it special is the kydex sheath from On Scene Tactical!

Read about the Trekker at SAKWiki.com- the best Swiss Army Resource to be found anywhere!  https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Trekker

I started out kind of random/whatever I was carrying that day. I realized by the end of the month I'd be going, "Wait, did I post that one yet?" so I switched to working through my collection in reverse size order. That was mostly so I could show off the birth year soldiers.

SAKtember Day 17

I bought this Skipper back in 2019 from eBay.  The seller added a note with the purchase, it said, "This was listed as one of the top 5 sailing knives 2 years ago by Sail Magazine. I bought it in Kinsale Ireland."
I enjoyed knowing some history about the knife even it was a modern knife.
Mine is slide-locking.
More about them here:

DAY 17

Another late one (30 mins to spare  ;))

Today it's my black Spartan. It used to live in the apartment in Nice until the mother-in-law took it back to Italy  ::)

I rescued it last Christmas (or this Easter ) and now it's back in the UK.

As we mostly travel to France from the UK, with hand luggage only, I now need to buy a SAK (in France) for the apartment, again

Day 17

Switching it up for one of my few backside Phillips models tonight, a Fieldmaster. This was one of the first SAKs (and the first 4 layer) I bought at a Dick's when I was getting into carrying something besides my keychain 58. It was my main carry for a while, and the knife that I relearned sharpening on after not doing it for a while so it's developed a fair amount of character.
