Why did you cut them? Any interesting use?

No interesting use. Just preventing futher use.

Damaged cable = overheating risk = fire = crispy toes.

No damaged cable = no risk (until the next one  ::))

Some great SAKs, as awlways. What an excellent thread this has been! :tu:

Day 25

Is the Huntsman the quintessential SAK? Quite possibly! It has quite a history, and many variations and identifiers are listed on its SAK Wiki page. The one I'm showing isn't terribly special, being recently manufactured and standard red.

It definitely is for me!  It kept me going and got the job done for a long time for me.  I think it hits so many EDC uses while not being overly large.  I think the Ranger nails it with the extra back spring tools!

SAKtember Day 25

I was going to take my new Mini Trangia cook kit out for a try with the SwissChamp, but it's hot out today, so it'll be another day.

How hot? Only in the 60s in my neck of the woods.

DAY 24 & 25
On Day 24 tried to go extra minimal and just carry this black classic SD from out west. It had me covered but admittedly the MiniChamp was missed.

DAY 25 carried this 84 mm Tourist model with REI inlay- this one was a gift and it’s a real honey of a knife.
I’m a big fan of the tourist- its basically a Spartan mini  :tu:

Bonus shot of Bella and the MiniChamp  :D

Of all the monthly challenges I did this year, the Huntsman definitely felt the closest to ideal to me.

Day 25 on my end is this Salesman. The 84mm file is the best Vic makes, and I wish they'd give it to us as one half of the metal file.

Day 23 for September 23

A little arts and crafts today. Adjusted the wallet to stretch it out to accommodate a dozen cards and some folded bills. The Compact acted as a light pry tool for this purpose.

Got a few days of catching up to do since a storm just passed by over the weekend.

Day 24 for September 24

We were preparing for the storm over the weekend. Basically these 2 were in my pockets most of the time during the day.

Well this lovely old Champion (1968ish) saw a bit of action at my desk today
It's amazing to think it is over 50 years old and looks and functions as new  - Yay Victorinox   :tu:     :D     :o

I have shown a few of the more interesting characteristics in the image.
  • Main blade with Victoria tang stamp
  • Clip-point small blade
  • Old style scissors - I think the single leaf spring has been replaced
  • Saw with sloping teeth
  • Bail
  • Metal-tipped tweezers
  • Square Phillips with file and finally the
  • Long nail-file  :woohoo: Giving this SAK an over the top three files !!

Keep up the great work on these posts everyone

Nice Champ' Huntsman  :like:
I'm a year older and wished I worked as well as that

I need to start the hunt for my BYSAK (Alox, of course) again
They don't like it up 'em!

FYI; Whilst it is possible to open a bottle of cider with the pliers - it's just not worth it

Day 26

Today I'm showing the Solo, or Swiss Army 1. Some interesting limited editions of this model were made (see its SAK Wiki page).

Day 26

Love the reflection on the SA1, FarmerX. Makes it look like a lightsaber or something.

Recruit for me today. Not one I grab for pocket carry a lot. I'd rather either thin down to the Cadet or grab the backside tools on a Small Tinker or Sportsman. I do like it for whittling though, one of the few times the comfort factor the smooth backside comes into play, and the thickness of the cellidor is a bit comfier than the Cadet. I've thought above trying to file the bottle opener down to a chisel, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

:like: A Meijer not too far from me had a few Recruits...but I never would have heard the end of it if I brought one home.

I was trying to show that the Swiss Army 1 has a blade and nothing more, but the reflections do look pretty neat.
