That's a very kind offer, Bob.  I won't lie.  I would like to have a SOG of some sort one of these days.  I do hate to be a mooch, however.  It is some time until the challenge.  I was going to use a Swiss+Tech on the Keychain challenge, and I can always do that.
Best wishes to you and your family,
Gary

I did a search for what I called the Craftsman gear logo.  I found it.  Looks like an oblong with Craftsman inside.  Along the curved top edge are what look like cogs.  Simple search.  Craftsman tool logo images.  Might be something other than a gear?
The black one I had looked a lot like a Schrade.  The one with what I called a gear logo I took for a Camillus.  Who knows?  Sears used codes to designate its suppliers.  I never kept anything very long.  I would swap it to somebody for something or throw it in as boot on a trade.  I enjoyed it at the time, but all things end.
I have the Sos box sealed up and addressed.  I will try to get down to the post office tomorrow and put that thing in the mail.  The Wenger refused to sharpen on my Arkansas stones.  It skated over the surface without biting.  I used a big carborundum stone to cut the angle.  After that I didn't have any trouble with it.  The blade tip is slightly bent.  Seems like all the ham-handed owners do with blades is pry something with them.  Too bad Wenger and Victorinox didn't make a folding chisel for these people.  As usual the Wenger cross is long gone.  I'm not sure which is worse, the printed cross or the one that wears off to leave a silver square.  A SAK can look pretty good with worn scales as long as the cross holds up (like Vic).  The worn off Wenger and EcoLine Vics look sad.  Best wishes.  G

I found the logo on an old stapler. Some of the cogs are worn off. G

:iagree: And a stout prying tool would make a good addition to Victorinox's tool arsenal.

Vic Swisstool has a prybar. And the Swisschamp has a chisel.

I have an Econoline Vic that I was looking at today, trying to figure out if I had steady enough hands to try and repaint the cross.

I wonder if a printed Victorinox cross sticker would look tacky?  Probably last longer than paint.  I will never understand why the Swiss knifey people made a tool that would last for decades with their company logo that only endures a month in a gritty pocket.  It would have made more sense to make a deep relief emblem in the scale.  Fill it with paint or just leave it as cast.  Best wishes.  G

Just mailed the Sos Surprise box.  Sent the soon-to-be recipient the tracking number.  It won't be long before the box is winging its way to Asheville, followed by Greenville, Charlotte, Atlanta, Newark, Goose Bay, Istanbul, Mumbai, Singapore, Hawaii, Oakland, Kansas City, back to Atlanta, and Asheville again, then finally to our friend MECSOG.  Hopefully.
Best wishes.  G

That's about right! I'll probably watch it eventually make its way within 50 miles of me, only to suddenly veer off on the next leg of its tour.  :D

I can send y'all my standby jackalope to help deliver but he's blind in his right eye and a bit lame on his left leg so he tends to zig-zag quite a bit.

I just hope that when some postal worker in northern Turkmenistan drops the box and accidently runs over it with a pallet jack two or three times causing the box to burst open, that they put everything that falls out of the box back in the box.

I got a letter from my aunt who lived about 60 miles away in the same state.  It took 6 months for the letter to reach me.  She left off the zip code and it went all over the place.  Cancellation marks from hither and yon even though the address was correct.
Just so you know.  There was some tension at the post office this morning.  The address I was shipping to didn't come up on her equipment.  She got one receipt out of the machine and tossed it.  Said something about the 'country road addresses'.  I told her I was shipping it to a little town that Google said had only 185 people.  She said, "I'm glad you told me that.  Someone there should know who this is to deliver it."  She did get a shipping label printed out and gave me a receipt.
Our friend can check things out with the tracking number.  It's up to the postal folks now.  I live in a rural spot as well.  Getting a package has always been a pain in the drain.  Best wishes.  G

Expected delivery is by good luck Friday the 13th.  Probably come on a skateboard being pulled by two black cats.

I got some chuckles out of the most recent comments! That said, I hope USPS gets it to WESCOG on of before the quoted delivery date. Packages taking the "scenic route" needs to be a thing of the past.

I copied down the 47 digit tracking number for the Sos package in the automated WTHDIG system.  That stands for the Where The Smurf Did It Go?  I added the question mark for the sake of good grammar.  According to the tracking system, the driver stopped to render aid to a stranded member of the public.  This member of the public was last seen wearing a tube top and shorts.  Might possibly be carrying a USPS driver uniform complete with wallet and truck keys and a mostly empty bottle of Patron.
Estimated time for delivery is still Friday the 13th.  I have to go now and finish stringing garlic around my doors.
Best wishes.  G

There is the notice.  Somebody tell me the last time you ever got a mail delivery at 9PM.  At night.  In the dark.  After the post office has closed and everyone has gone home.
If someone dares to come up the muddy Werecoyote Trail and somehow makes it through the strings of fishing line festooned with pebble filled cans up to my garlic garlanded door......   I had to use festooned in a sentence.  Never used it before.  It felt good. ..... garlic garlanded door and had the temerity to knock and yell 'Mail Call!'  Do you think I would throw open my door?  Would you?

You used festooned and temerity!!?  Those were S.A.T. words for sure.  I was aggrieved, disenchanted and discomfited when they took out the vocabulary requirement some years previous as were my many friends who were in the teaching vocation.  They thought it was disingenuous and disadvantageous and indicated a lack of certitude in the capabilities of their young students and reflected poorly on them as educators.  My consternation and disquietude lasted weeks.  It was quite a tumultuous time for me.  :ahhh

Late last night,
And the night before.
Postal workers, postal workers,
Knocking at my door.

It took a whole day to move the package 22 miles yestiddy.  I hope the new recipient keeps his dogs on their chains tonight.  Might just be a letter carrier by 9PM.  Hmmm?
Best wishes.  G

we'll see, if it's actually delivered today. On Fridays especially, my carrier marks packages as "delivered" and I don't actually receive it until sometime the following week. She also sometimes leaves stuff at the PO as "too heavy" when it only weighs 10-12 lbs. So, I'm not gonna be too disappointed if it doesn't arrive today.

You guys are making me thankful for my branch of the postal service. Once it makes it to the local hub (~50 miles away) it reliably gets to my door between 11 and 12 the next morning. If it can make it to the hub by 6 or so, I usually even get it same day.

Now don't get me started on FedEx, who reliably will drive it in circles in the wrong direction for a couple days...

Seems like I have gotten things to and from friend BP's location and indeed it went through slick as castor oil.  Realistically, I would expect the package to be available for pick-up maybe Monday or Tuesday.  Best wishes.  G

I like dinosaurs too.  I think the thesaurus roamed the plains during the Crustaceous Period.  Could have been the Epizootic?  It has been theorized that it used feathers on its head to tickle other carnivores in a fight.  Probably why it is extinct.  If you dig one up be sure to send a photo.  Best wishes.  G

The box arrived! Along with a smaller, unrelated box addressed to me. I already know what is in the smaller box, so I opened it first. I recently ordered some items from a well-known supplier and got free shipping. That supplier had the Imperial large sodbuster for $6.99 so having read some favorable reviews of said soddy, added one to my order. No, the small box is not that order. But I used that Imperial soddy to open the smaller box.
