I wanted to do France, but there are some really great French members here already.  I don't want to stand in their way.  France deserves a good French man.  Or French lady.   Nobody wants China, so I will do that one.  Best wishes Gary
Good to have you on board, Gary! You can choose whatever country you'd like regardless of what others have chosen. Besides, no one has picked France yet :tu:

:Agree:  All are welcome and you can choose whatevever country you want.

@ReamerPunch Is the host so he can correct me if I’m wrong.  While it would be interesting to see multiple different countries and tools represented, there is nothing preventing more than one person choosing the same country.

I'm thinking of switching to China myself.
I'll be recovering from surgery so I won't be able to post too exciting photos. And I only have four knives from Spain and they are all fixed blades from the same brand. But from China, I have multiple tools from multiple brands. I could post a different one every day.
And from Taiwan and Japan as well.
I'll think about it.

We can go with one tool for the whole month. The amount of tools and brands you carry and use is up to you. So I could go with Spain and just post my Joker knives....

I am not sure. Their website says "Made in Norway" but I read that they have productions in China and Spain as well. Can't blame them though, given the economy these days

I know the fixed blades they have on their website marked with lifetime warranty are made in Norway, the fixed blades that are not market with the lifetime warranty are made in Spain by Joker knives I think :tu:

I do have more than a hand full of We knives, Civivi, Twosun and others, so I think I will do China.

@ReamerPunch, just curious--some well known brands, such as Buck/Boker/Gerber, do have knives/tools made in China.  Would that particular knife/tool be considered China as country of origin?

In another words, do the brand name and manufacturing has to be in the same country for that tool to be eligible to enter the challenge?

Good question, I was wondering this myself. It is hard to avoid that parts of the production are performed overseas or elsewhere. Where would the limit go; designed in one country, forged in another country and assembled in a third country. In that case I should qualify for three badges :pommel:

For me it comes down to country of manufacture. If a tool is manufactured in China, it does not matter if the company is German like Wiha, or American like Spyderco, etc. We have to make a distinction somewhere and the country of manufacture is an easy line to draw.

It sounds easy, but I cannot verify where mine is manufactured. I guess it doesn't matter though, since it's the same badge regardless of origin. :dunno:

Those're some nice ones. Don't see a lot of bottle openers on main blades.

Well, we love to eat and drink, so that's pretty much our multitool of choice. The Corta-e-pica has been around for a long time, even before we had bottle caps. This is the modern version, from the beginning of last century, I imagine.

I remembered we had once cross posted about the Corta-e-pica, and finally, after a long, long wait (months, if not a year), the European dealer I usually shopped at got the MAM version I always wanted.  So I would be looking forward to one!

Btw, it'd be great if you could join, love to see those unique patterns from you again on this challenge.

Enough indecision for me.  Put me down for France.  I have to admit that I looked up Tugaland.  I'm still not real clear on that one.  Nice Tuganese knives, though.  Best wishes. IMR4198

I think this'll be a fun one. I've talked a little about collecting knives from the countries my family came from (Italy, Germany, Ireland, Hungary/Romania) so I've got some choices. For Italy, I have an "Italian Army Knife" with a can opener, blade, and screwdriver. I have one Boker for Germany, but wouldn't mind an excuse to get more. Ireland, I have several Imperial Ireland. AFAIK they're about the same as the US Imperials, save for the scales. Could be fun to do standard patterns with less common scales. Nothing for Hungary/Romania yet. Anyone got any ideas?

Tugaland is just a joke. Portuguese sometimes call themselves "tuga", from "portuga", "Portugal". Those knives are awl portuguese made/design. There's a few more distinctive patterns, like the Corneto and Capa-grilos (cricket neuter).
