The orange peeler was the perfect tool to pull out the furnace air filter for replacement.

Had to get out of the house today.  MiniChamp came along to dress up the steering wheel.

I often think of potty words when I have to do that.  That orange peeler looks like a good tool for the job.   :salute:

Day 1 of 30
Got my OG MC all cleaned up this morning, and it went in the front pocket like every other day. The first task was duck round up. It handled that easily. The second task was using the orange peeler to peel an orange real quick before my class came back from lunch. I have to say, I'm not a fan of its namesake use. It cuts much too deep in these little thin-skinned oranges. Leaves me with a juicy mess. Seems to be much better suited to pulling furnace filters.

I really hate it that everyone in the PST Challenge is jealous of this thread, and wishes he or she were here instead.  I really do.

I noticed that when I did the PST challenge last year. Despite the size, the Minichamp is a much more useful tool for most people's EDC. It might not be able to fit your Fiat, but it will do about a million other day to day things more easily.

Thanks.
Really feeling my age today.
Coolest day so far at 52°, but hopefully warming back up some later in the week so the kids can get back outside for a bit.

Why did I not think of that? And, I usually have a model with a hook on it too. I'm always annoyed when I change those. Thanks, bro.  8)

Day 1

Wow, time really flew by - it's November already! So this morning I stored my current EDC (a 2023 Swiss Spirit Companion) in a drawer and armed myself with the trusty Minichamp, which will be the only Multitool in my pocket for this month. As a city dweller, I have little doubt that it will serve all my realistic needs and am looking forward to confirm the theory.

As a matter of fact, before the SAK bug hit me hard in 2019, I hadn't carried anything but a keyring SAK for years (first the very same Minichamp you will see in this Challenge, later a Rambler, finally a Manager) and had gotten along just fine. So why should the fact that I am less sane now when it comes to SAKs change the fact that in everyday life, a Minichamp is plenty? As a matter of fact, I am wondering if I will find a use for any of the backside tools in the month to come... Well, we will see.

Today there was little to do for the XS Champ, some fingernail cutting was as good as it got.

Cheers

Simon

DAY 1
With the primary character in scene one.... old type MiniChamp.

Good story, Gary! I wonder what an "old type MiniChamp" is - are there different versions? I have to admit I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to 58 mm SAKs

Edit: OK, I looked it up in Sakwiki (should have done so in the first place) . Looks as if the old type MiniChamp is a bit what the Champion is to the Swiss Champ. Well, I definitely prefer the new version with the combo tool - the bottle opener with small Philips is one of the best 58 tools imho.

Good to see you in the mix, Simon.  If your Mini has the same tool set as mine, then you have an old one too.  I'm sure someone would be happy to send a photo of another type.  I have heard the old ones called the MiniChamp Mark I.  I don't know where that came from.  Best wishes.  Gary

Thanks Gary, good to see you too! I looked it up in Sakwiki in the meantime. I didn't know about the mark I model. Mine has the Pen and the combo tool and I definitely wouldn't want to be without either ;)

Good use, Explorer. The orange peeler looks like a good pulling tool, but I wonder if the sharp edge might not become a problem when using it that way? Doesn't it scratch or damage the object which is being pulled?

Great entries everyone.  Just a poser shot this morning with the Lego Vespa I built the other day.

That's a cute Vespa and the MC scales match the Lego theme very well :tu:

     Day Two
I think I felt something was missing when I walked around with the MiniChamp alone yesterday.  Everything worked out however.  Mini was capable for fingernail fidulation and some mail opening duty.  I mentioned my carry quandary being alleviated with a shoestring solution.  Here is a picture of my anti-loss Mini carry tackle.  One end goes through a pants belt loop.  The other is tied to an aluminum snap link dingle.  That came from the SoS box.  It is large (comparatively speaking) but light.  I can drop and refasten it to the Mini quickly.  Best wishes.  Gary

I think everyone signed up has checked in except our friend Reamer.  A very lengthy hospital stay might have interfered with his participation somewhat.  I read one of his posts on this site, so it can't be private.  He mentioned being released either this Friday or last Friday.  I lost track.  Good news either way.  Best wishes to all.  Especially Reamer.  G
P.S. The posts and photos to this challenge have been outstanding.  Hats off to all. G :hatsoff:

DAY 2  The new MC screwdriver at work.  The addition of the phillips screwdriver was a definite improvement over the old tool set.

I really feel for friend stoer's paucity of provisions.  If you were here, I would give you a bag of red beans and some rice.  The brown rice.  I hate that stuff.
My old Dad used to work with a fellow who said he grew up so poor that his folks would send him to school with two hickory nuts and a hammer.  I didn't see any turkeys yesterday.  I think they are browsing somewhere else.  All the grasses in the field have been denuded of their seeds.  Turkeys went through like vacuum cleaners.  Best wishes.  Gary

Powernoodle Day 2

I used the orange peeler to open a package of batteries.  I've converted all of my battery needs to Eneloops except for the D cells.  But I think Eneloop may make an AA>D adapter so I need to give that a try.

I used the cuticle pusher as a flat driver to replace the batteries in a motion light.  I had to use a traditional screwdriver as a pry tool, and pounded it with a 10" Knipex pliers wrench, to get the back off of the light.  It was really stuck on there.  Too much for the Mini Champ.
