It slides apart, Nate, like a hobo.  Knife/spoon side and the fork side.  I find the corkscrew to be an added piece that seems like an attempt at a SAK copy.
Here's the link, GA ,

Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! $6.33  50%OFF | Outdoor Tableware Multi-function Portable Knife Fork Spoon Bottle Opener Foldable Cutlery Camping Equipment
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mKnMzSs

but it's boxed simply as Campmore.

Day 12

The larger, textured handle and longer saw blade made the Mikov saw a joy to use compared to the Vulpis saw.

The Mikov saw is very similar in size and design to the 91 mm Vic saw, and I would say performance is close as well.

I would have some concerns that the main blade lock release button might cause a hotspot under extended use.

I think Mikov may have missed an opportunity for a longer saw, though.  As seen below, the main blade (right) is nearly full length for the handle, but the gutting blade (center) and saw (left) are noticeably shorter.

Happy birthday, David.

GA1, is that a Micra cameoing in the back?

Nate, enjoying seeing the Mikov in action.

Day 12

Removed an annoying tag from a cooler bag. Scissors were adequate, but took some work to get through.

Can't beat tomato soup with grill cheese.

Day 12

Keep busting up my thumbnails trying to open stuck SAKs so I have to keep maintaining them so they don't catch on anything and rip off my thumbnail.  The metal file comes in handy for that.

It's a grooming tool I picked up at the flea market for a dollar.  It's not marked with a brand anywhere, but when I first opened it I thought Leatherman by the way it sprung open. Very well made. I'll post another picture with all the tools this evening after work.

Day 12
SAK-Alike Challenge
Leatherman Free T2

Here's some better pics of the little micra that never was. Mine is not marked with a manuf. or a country of origin. If you google Winchester Nail Clippers you will find several examples including a review from one of our members. I guess his did not meet his expectations.  Luckily, I did not have the same experience with mine. I really like them, and have used them several times. The tweezers have good spring action, a very precisely ground mating surface and the corners are nice and sharp for tiny work. The scissors have a great spring, much like what you would expect on a Micra. My only real complaint is that I wish the clippers had a larger radius for big boy digits. I haven't used any of the other tools yet.

At the end of the day, keep in mind that I only paid a dollar for it,,,, so I certainly don't feel like my money was wasted.

Seeing all these cool/weird off brand tools is the best part of these kinds of challenges.

Day 13

Usual minor uses today, opened a package, trimmed a tag. I did drop it, and had the back tools pop, which surprised me a bit. Not a huge deal, but good enough for a pic.

Day 13

Here are my final (for now) thoughts on the Mikov Fixir:

F&F and action are good.

Overall size is in the range I like for a pocketknife.  The handle accommodates a four-finger grip.

The plastic faux stag scales look and feel a bit cheap, but the textured surface actually provides a decent grip.

The main clip point blade is a nice size and shape, and worked well for everything I used it on.

The main blade lock release button is an abomination that looks like it was designed by a five-year-old.  It’s unsightly, uncomfortable, and would likely cause hot spots under sustained or heavy use.  I would much rather have a slip joint than have to deal with this.

The gut hook blade seems OK for what it is, but application is rather narrow.  I did not have the opportunity to field dress an animal with it during the challenge.

The saw works well, similar to Victorinox.

While I certainly haven’t used the Fixir enough over the last five days to require sharpening, 440A is on the softer side of what I would prefer in a pocketknife.

All functions on the Fixir do what they are supposed to do, which is actually more than I could say for the Vulpis.  Ultimately, the lock release button ruins the whole thing for me, which is a shame because it is otherwise a decent knife, but on that basis I can’t bring myself to recommend the tool.

Going back in the box…

Day 13

My SAK-A-Like was only in a supervisory role today as it watched over me while I brought this Rodgers Sheffield back to life.

Someone must've put it away wet many times as there was rust on the springs and between the pivots.  It took a lot of cleaning and oiling to finally get the snap back.  The bottle and can opener still feel little tight and the nail nick on the knife would be better on the other side so you don't have to reach between the other two.  I was going to try and remove the scales to look at the pivots but it looks like the plastic scales are "melted peened" from the other side of the liner.

It shined up ok and I got a lot of the scratches out of the scales but you can still tell it's been around.  It was a good practice knife for me as I got to hone in my repairing skills before I try them on something nicer.  I think I'll just give it away though.

Day 14

Next up is the A.G. Russell Premium Scout.

A classic scout knife design, it features a spear point blade, can opener, bottle opener/flat screwdriver, and awl.  While it sports traditional nickel silver bolsters and brass liners, this knife also has micarta slabs and 154CM steel.

F&F are excellent.  The springs are on the weaker side of average, but all implements click open and closed with satisfying precision.

At about 3 3/4” (95 mm) closed without the bail, for me this knife hits the sweet spot for balance between ease of use and ease of loose pocket carry.

The logarithmic spiral cutout in the bottle opener easily guides it into the correct position on the bottle cap.  The bottle cap comes off in one smooth motion.

Got a lot of slicing action in today, from cutting serranos from our plants, to cutting up grapes, to cutting up a boatload of boxes. I'm impressed with how well the blade has kept its edge thus far.

Apologies for the lousy pic of the serrano cutting. It was already dark and it was starting to rain.

I just finished reading the SAK-alike challenge posts.  It was interesting to get a good real-world picture of how the Fox Vulpis and the Leatherman near SAKs were doing.  The only thing I had that would qualify (?) for this challenge would have been a Chinese Dollar Tree nothing that I bought several years ago.  Because it just cost a dollar, right?  I have used it to peel apples, and I leave it on my computer desk.  No way I was going to carry that flimsy thing for a month.
Lots of good photos.  I am enjoying them a bunch.  Congrats to BP for doing a fine job hosting and all the participants.  I was hoping that somebody would have a Swiza.  They interest me a little.  I would like to see one anyway.  Best wishes.  G

The main blade is a fairly typical-for-pattern spear point.  The swell is more pronounced than some, though I don’t see this making much of difference functionally.  I do like the long pull, but more for aesthetic than functional reasons.  If I were doing the design, I would go with a full flat grind over the swedge, but not a deal breaker.

The main blade did a fine job trimming this cigar.

I like it, it's comfortable to hold, blade profile gives it a good tip for detail work. I like the finger choil so you can choke up if you would like. Whole things screams quality is it's my first non budget Vosteed.

Thanks, Gary! I have a Swiza, but it didn't come up in this round. I haven't carried it much, so can't really give you a review, but maybe one month next year.
