That looks like a corticosteroid rather than a rescue inhaler?

Yes sir. The fluticasone works by reducing inflammation and preventing certain cells from releasing substances that cause allergic reactions.  It is the active ingredient in the over-the-counter nasal spray Flonase.  The salmeterol component is a long-acting bronchodilator.  I use it occasionally.

I have an Albuterol rescue inhaler, but never use it.  I EDC it to have it available for other people - which has never happened.  I formerly used it when I would have serious bronchial spasms, and it is super effective in about 2 minutes.

Powernoodle Day 25

I added a groovy Rovyvon A28 to today's carry - you know, so I can use the Micra in the dark.

Possible this was returned previously and a new stock label applied.
Or maybe some dealer put their own label over the factory one? Most likely Case was using up the last of the blades for that pattern that were stamped in 2022. (I don't know how long the keep completed knives around before boxing them up, though.) Glad you solved the mystery!

The new paradigm is dubbed Single Maintenance And Rescue Therapy (SMART).

I have an Albuterol rescue inhaler, but never use it.
I'll ask my doctor about this SMART thing and give some serious thought to always having an inhaler on me. You'd think that since I was diagnosed with COPD at the tail end of 2019, I'd know a little more about developments in that particular facet of medicine. Now, can COPD be cured, or is one stuck with it for life?

ElevenBlade will receive a PM from me before I log off.

I sent more details in a PM.  COPD is different from Asthma and the developments are ongoing.  Asthma  has had significant breakthroughs in the last couple of years, and is the one where SMART therapy has resulted in full remission in some people, which is an exciting development.  COPD is still using separate inhalers for maintenance and rescue, but the maintenance inhalers we have now are better than before.

Ill stop being cryptic, for everyone’s benefit. A major breakthrough is that a corticosteroid combined into the rescue inhaler has resulted in several downstream benefits… going into remission from asthma, avoiding secondary attacks, preventing attacks from known triggers, etc.   With this addition, certain long-acting bronchodilators have an immediate rescue effect too. Thus the opportunity for Single Maintenance And Rescue Therapy with corticosteroid+salmeterol.

Another thing I'll be doing before this challenge wraps up.
It's sunny here, too (after a rainy start to the day)...but there will be no trip for the beach riverfront for me.

Day 25

It's been a while since I've posted a pet photo, so here you go.

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

Bluegrass seems to like the Micra, or at least its fob. Beijing is leery of it.

The pup and I both enjoy popsicles after the walk during summer.  His is a chicken icy in a kong.

Cute cat pics.

Day 25
I haven’t made an alcohol stove from a can in a while so I decided I try it with the Micra.

Removing the top was the most difficult part without a can opener or lock (even spring back) tool, but worked.  The scissors cut through the can easily.

Then of course had to test it out for some coffee

DAY 26

Shortly off to a butchery course, here is the line up of users for the day...and yes I will be trying to butcher a pig with the Micra....the benchmade 200 and the opinel no 7 are the trusted butchery tools...the opinel no 7 has dressed over 200 (I never counted so likely over 400?) lambs in the 10 years that I was a sheep farmer.

I remain guardedly optimistic that someday I'll be able to get rid of inhalers forever.
Cute cat pics.
I'm sure Bluegrass would appreciate the kind words.

Sweet! I may do that, or have it done, someday.

The best tool for this job is an offset screwdriver, or maybe a very small ratchet. Unfortunately, the Micra didn't do all that great. It could sneak into the tight space okay, but the 2D Phillips had a tendency to work its way out of place.

I need to try one of those alcohol stoves.  I frequently light up a little concrete (?) stove, and use 99% isopropyl alcohol from Amazon for a clean burn.

One of the reasons I signed up for the Micra challenge, was to see how small I can go with my toolset, and include the small blade that Ive been missing from the Pioneer X. Have feeling that I will be satisfied with the Micra and a midsized folding knife since my biggest hang-up with the Micra is the steps involved in opening the small blade.

Having a medium sized blade separately should do the trick.  But which one

I’ve amassed a number of folders over the last several years, all picked up on sale and none really fit the bill.  I don’t have a Spyderco, partly due to the price, and partly because they look too tactical to me. Im thinking of getting a Buck 112 with lightweight handles  :dunno:

Here is a easy-to-follow YouTube video for making one of the most basic ones.

There are other videos that look nicer and may be more efficient, but I just like how easy this one is to do.
