Day 19

SOG PowerLitre and PowerPint.  The build quality is just ok, but they're still neat little multitools.  The pliers are too small for my needs, but I guess they're better than no pliers.

(Image removed from quote.)

Personally, I love the PowerPint, though the locking (closed) function on the PowerLitre is nice.  I remedied that omission with a small magnet (1x5x10mm, I think) that I super glued to one handle.  Not perfect but it's keeps it closed pretty good.

On the 19th day of challenge, ol' Grumpy had with him a Gerber Suspension NXT multitool.
For several years, Home Depot sold these for around $20.00 at Christmas time.  Last couple years they kept them at regular price of nearly double.

DAY 19

Having finished another set of long shifts at work I thought I'd share my EDC bag (a sling type one)

I use this now mostly as I rarely need to carry my PPE outside of work (baton, handcuffs, limb restraint etc.)

It fits most of my other work EDC and fits in the top box on the steel horse  :tu:

Here it is with my MT of the day  :salute:

Hi, all!  I am the host for Day 25 mini-challenge, and would like to use this opportunity to do a preview for the upcoming mini-challenge! :hatsoff:

Day 25 Mini-Challenge (preview):  Forrest fire challenge!

The local fire department has contacted our neighborhood to warn that we may need to evacuate within the next 24-48 hours due to an uncontrolled forest fire in the area.

While the priority is to gather essential supplies for your family, if you have a brief window to collect some personal items, what would you choose to take from your EDC gear or collections?

Would it be something sentimental from a previous mini-challenge?  Or perhaps some valuable or trusted items you'd want to have with you?   Please share a photo with the rest of us!

Those awlways suck. But your Wave is pretty sweet!
I have a similar deal: the Marble's "Camper's Best Friend." I seem to recall using it to eat a meal, and finding it rather time-consuming.
I have one of those, with a loadout similar to yours. Unfortunately, the tools that fit in the little compartment on the underside are long gone.
 In-N-Out Burger will serve you fries "animal style" (covered with Thousand Island dressing, grilled onions, and cheese). They're even better with peppers on top!
 :like: and :like:
I like the look of silver and black!
Me, too!

More great stuff today, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 18

Today we're checking out...hot sauce?

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

It wasn't too spicy; I could probably drink it. What was interesting: it's made in Germany and bears (pun intended) a trademark owned by an English dude. It's the first such hot sauce I've ever encountered.
I always think EDCing your own hot sauce is a rather brilliant, respect!

Nice carry!  I have been hooked with sling bag for the last year or two, plenty of room to fit in all my toys tools, but not too hot in the summer.  :D

The only thing I don't like is that it rides too high (across my neck)
However, I don't use it with the body strap that would prevent it swivelling as I put it in the top box

My fault TBH

Mini-challenge/Sub-challenge for Day 22

Two is One, One is None

For Day 22, the challenge is to post a picture showcasing your EDC gear where you have multiples (2 or more) of the exact same model of knife or other gear!

So show us your "Two is One, One is None" mindset on Day 22.

Here's my collection of Buck 110s and 112s.  Not quite as nice as LoopCutters collection

These would have been great pics for the Day 22 mini-challenge, but I'll post something different for that.

There are so many straight knives in this thread. Here is another round blade. Great for cutting circles! (Just smurfing - I have no idea!  )

Day 19

My disorganized highly organized Allen key set.  In a one-time common tobacco tin.  One old timer told me the Prince Albert cans came with a little folder of rolling papers inside for a while.  Before the war I suppose.   I suspect most Prince Albert got incinerated in a pipe.
This tobacco brand fostered an ancient prank.  Someone goes into a store and asks, "Do you have Prince Albert in a can?"  The usual answer was, "Yes, we do."  Then the prankster would say, "You better let him out then."  And run away giggling with the rest of his 12-year-old jolly friends.
Best wishes.  G
[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

Prince Albert was actually not bad back in the late 90s but has since changed manufactures so it's a whole different animal now. these days i'm quite partial to some Eighteen Twenty made by J. F. Germain & Son. Germain's (and esoterica) tobaccos are rarer than hens teeth these days. i used to smoke copious amounts of it when I was a full time pipe and cigar smoker and even though i'm only just an occasional pipe smoker now I've still stocked up quite a bit of it. thought you might enjoy seeing a few of my various crazy stash boxes...

these are just a few of them

Day 19

This arrived today... my new P4 from the Prime Day deal! At first blush I actually think I am going to like this MT. I know it has mixed reviews and some of the tools are interesting... but are still useful. I almost always have a companion knife of some sort and think I can pair this with something else to have a pretty complete package. This file is small,  but sharp and will work for small things or hygiene. Other than that,  I think this is going to work out well for me. $105 US is priced right too and has good value. $150 to me would be a little on the steep end. Of course these are discontinued now.

Hello to Awl on day 20 ( here in NZ already)
My favourite tea mug (although some of my work mates call it my bucket)  with a Surge. .
Good and hot for at least 2 hours  and of sufficent quantity that only one a day is needed.

Grandfather always kept the old Prince Albert cans on his back porch.  There were several big boxes full of them.  I used to drag a box out to the front porch of his house and line them up like dominos.  Up and down the length of the porch until there was no room left to stack any more and then tip one over.  It made a lot of noise.  If Grandma didn't like it, she never said anything.  Years later I saw vendors at the flea markets trying to sell these tins for many times more than they cost with the tobacco in them.
One of my grade school teacher's husband smoked Prince.  We were all issued with a small box of Crayola crayons.  She brought enough cans for every child to have one and made us put our crayons in the tins.  I didn't like the idea, but you didn't challenge her edicts.  The tins were wonderful for carrying schoolboy junk.  Lots of them were used as a worm caddy along with a home-made river cane pole.  Thanks for the photos, Ex.  Best wishes.  G

Day 19
Another day and you guessed it..... another box.

Not opening at this time, I'm actually doing a quick strop across the grain of the cardboard to touch up the Trekker.

Cardboard stropping blades is a trick picked up from an article interviewing the head of Blackjack Knives (probably 20-25y ago).
In it he talked about how over/mis-sharpening removing too much steel and changeing edge geometry ruined knives. It then described several stropping and polish sharpening techniques.

My experience, I've used this Trekker daily for almost a decade now, and just cardboard strop or polish sharpen it with a 2k-3k grit foam. It works well for the Trekker since the wide serrations are both difficult to sharpen, and tend to chew up traditional strops.

Edit: shortened post

Day 19

I'm intrigued by cleaver knives but I didn't want to commit to it for fear of not liking them.  I picked up this Buckshot cleaver model on Amazon.  Not bad for $20.  I've had it for a few years and I EDC it from time to time.  I might invest in something a little more worthwhile.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

For lack of own coffee mugs I've raided two Starbuck ones from my wife. I added two tiny Ruiss (?) multi-tools to keep them company. Not sure if Ruiss exist anymore, but I thought they were nice - like Gerber Dime nice.
