Day 19 of 30

The day started of normal enough. While I was washing the hummingbird feeder I happened to notice out the kitchen window was a Carolina Wren on the ground. As my eye focused on  him I realized he was following an adult copperhead under my boat just a few feet from the house. Well,,, I like having kings, rats and other non-poisonous snakes around the house.  And this copperhead would have been left alone if out in the wild somewhere. But, poisonous snakes don't get a pass when they are comfortable getting close to the house where I or my family carry on daily duties. They instantly become a safety concern at that point. So I rush outside and grab a shovel. Mind you, it's under the boat and not very accessible. I used the shovel to try and drag it out in the open and take a good swing at it. Immediately I feel burning on my hand and at first considered that I may have been bitten,, but I wasn't close enough. That's when I realized I also had a yellow jackets nest under the boat and got hit 5 more times before I could get away. Brought three in the house with my. Wife and cat each got stung once. Yeah,,, turned into an abnormal, exciting morning real fast. But we survived. Hopefully the copperhead got a good enough blow that it slithered off and died somewhere.

Glad y’all are ok!! Depending on laws where you live/how much property you own, you may prefer this to a shovel.

Day 20 of 30

All is good. The yellow jacket nest has been taken care of. It "was" a cantaloupe sized paper nest. No signs of the snake.

Today was just another hang around the house day. Started off with a sausage link and a bagel.

I have carried them in the past. I prefer a .410 over those snake shot shells. I have had two issue with them. The only time I ever had a revolver jam up was when one of those were loaded in my 38. Seems the blue capsule worked it's way loose from shell and protruded out of the cylinder  just enough to keep it from rotating. And then there was one time I shot a snake with a 22 caliber snake shot at just a couple of feet away and I saw several pellets stuck in the skin of a now very angry snake, with no penetration.

Day 20 GEC

Selected the BARLOW and out of character for me remained small and picked a pretty blue Half Whittler from my display. (Color in listed BRNT INDIG) on the box.

Day 21

The 99 was used to cut the ends off a couple of potatoes.

I made potato chips in the air fryer. They were okay for a first attempt...though, for consistency, I made the final slices with a mandoline.

I haven’t had the issue of it jamming up like you say, but I have read of it happening to others. I have just made sure if I am carrying it I don’t fire any normal rounds with it in one of the chambers. If I had one of those little .410 derringers that would be my choice as well, but that would just be one more thing to carry.

I do believe that the .38 is more effective than the .22, which is too bad because it would be a lot easier to carry in a 22.

That is a beautiful blue.

Thank you,  that is one reason it came home when found.     A Trapper in same color was located in the same table, it to made the trek.    For some reason I am drawn to the CASE BLUES.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

After a week in the mountains I'm back. I was up in the Sierra Nevadas, specifically Sequoia National Park. I won't even bother attempting to list all the days
It was a good trip one of the best National Parks in my opinion. I mainly carried the lambsfoot around but the Urban Jack was in the car so I pulled him out a couple times for short periods for fun.

Is it related to knives or multis?

Looks like a fantastic place to spend a little (or a lot of) time!

Incidentally, those pouches are a good flavor match for Copenhagen. The smell is even more accurate.
