I love that Fisher Space Pen!

Yeah that is a nice looking Space Pen.  I have a couple of the small bullet ones, but not one like that.   :ahhh

Oh, the look of surprise on the teacher's face.
You may end up in prison for carrying a blade in a kindergarten, but it was worth it.  :D
And I'm pretty sure the Bond will get you out of prison (see, I followed this thread closely and have worked out some of the English play on words!)

That's a powerful directive.  But the more I try to comply, the more difficult it is to do.   :dunno:

Day 7

Helper had spilled congee into the internals of a rice cooker and triggered rccb. (She denied that happened... )

Bond to open up the cooker to clean up.

I am happy no one got hurt (and the RCCB worked).

Now you reminded me an incident here (many years ago, like 50?) that got a few kindergarten kids and some children in primary school getting killed. I should avoid carrying in these area, locking or non locking.

Well, I've been meaning to try this forever!  Years ago, when Nix had just started here, he posted about whether anyone had used the Vic awl to actually sew with.  I showed it to Mrs. R and got out my Climber.  She proceeded to run a stitch and then crochet with the hook.  Tonight I asked her to give me a lesson with the Leatherman Bond awl, which she proceeded to do.  When I showed her the Bond awl, her first remark was that it looked like it was meant to sew canvas or leather due to its size.  She tried it, and it was rough going.  She said the sewing eye would be better suited further towards the point and that it was sharp enough but too thick to do the job on the light piece of leatherette we had.  I had her try the Signal awl, and she liked it better, as well as that the Signal fit her hand better.  I then showed her the awl on the Vic Spirit and she couldn't figure out why they put the hook where they did, and that it couldn't be used to sew in the manner of the regular knife based SAKs.  Photos are attached showing her first effort and some comparison pics.

Did you gift your engraved Bond at Christmas?

Did they like it?, or LOVE it?, or REALLY 😍 it?

She loves it  🥰  I'll have to take a pic of it.

It's definitely a "Bonding" experience!

I'd love to try it with canvas Rich.  I think thicker material would make a difference.  I have a speedy stitcher but this is fun to try.

First day back at work after a couple of weeks off. Very rough going this morning. After work did more painting. Used the large flat driver to open the paint can.

Forgot for a while there are some blessed places in the world where the distinction was made. But one should always be careful in a school.

[French rant on, please imagine this with an accent]
Speaking of distinctions for blades, there are none here in France, where a blade is a blade and is just plain illegal now (with confiscation and 500 euro fine plus a smudge on your police record). That is, unless you can justify the carry to the policeman (—"Surely you can see I'm fishing". —"Sir, first of all my name isn't Shirley, and secondly I can't see how eating a Filet-O-Fish would ever justify that machete")
Sorta like a lottery, depending on the good sense and mood of said guardian of the peace. I feel carrying a MT helps, as there is more practical uses to justify. (—"Sir, how else would I be able to sew leather in the bus ?")    :D
True, some case-law exceptions are said to exist somewhere, notably for Opinels or Laguioles. You gotta keep the traditions (and the economy) going ! All you have to do is daily carry a saucisson in your pocket and you should be good !
[French rant off, or at least tuned down as we never really turn it completely off]

Day 7

Actual use today - opening the packaging of a Smith & Wesson Vehicle Survival Tool I bought my wife for Christmas.

It’s a handy little thing. Main reason I got it her is for the glass breaker and belt cutter in case she ever needs them in an accident, but the fact that it doubles as a USB charger means it’ll actually get used, and she should always remember where it is in an emergency.
