Everyone, my carry for this challenge is going to be my Leatherman Signal.  I already have this badge but I'm going to try to earn the Signal badge too.  That being said, I'm going to do two challenges but only one badge as we go along.

Apologies, I will not be able to attend the challenge,  my mum died on 25th, our world is broken, and we are devastated...I have no other family (that we want to know, as they are horrendous and mean), so it is just my wonderful wife and two beautiful girls, now in a strange and frightening world....unlikely to be back on the forum for a long time...while we navigate our way through sorrow and pain.

The way I figure it, the end of a life well lived isn't a tragedy.  Just the best possible outcome to the inevitable.  Prayers.  Gary

Gra_farmer, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I'm going to be bowing out of this one, too. There are some high-priority things that I have to try and sort out this month (such as trying to keep a six-month lease around as a viable option). With so little free time during the week, a daily challenge just isn't practical right now. I know y'awl will have a great time, though!

Hey Dan, I hope they're willing to work with you.  I know you have a lot going on and landlords can be different.

Some landlords/property management companies are. I can always remind them that a vacant unit earns $0 per month.

???  Will my early issue SwissTool with a combination of one serrated blade and one plain blade work?  Considered as a whole, each side is a partial!

Hi Jeff,
Congrats on the Buck badge, by the way.  Very entertaining challenge.  I think our friend Loop Cutter asked the same question already.  Might want to reference that.  Best wishes.  G

it should be one blade with a combo edge.  Any folding knife or MT would qualify as long as it has one blade with both types of edge on that one blade.  So a LM PST2  would qualify but a LM Wave would not.  A Cold Steel Voyager would qualify but a Cold Steel Lucky would not.

Yeah, unfortunately as Nate says as I said, there needs to be both edge configurations on the same blade.

If you don’t have anything suitable, or have something making its way through the mail that isn’t in yet: I tend to see these on sale for under $10 at the auto parts store and discount stores.  :-\

Was carrying my modded Benchmade 943SBK and Free P4 today. Figured I would throw a pic up here while I was posting in the Free Friday thread.

Been too long since I did a challenge and I enjoyed this one last time so count me in :tu:

Unfortunately with the way the laws are here in Sydney I can’t really carry anything much out the house, I do have a Rambler on my keychain at all times, so it’ll mostly just be opening packages and glamour shots

I’ve just rustled up a little Gerber Paraframe, an Opi 8 outdoor model (which I like a lot) and my trusty butterblade Spirit. Much the same as last time I did the challenge although think I’m missing one or two :dunno:

Day 1

And so it begins.  This is the combo edge that I will start out with.  Gerber EZ out.  I bought this thing at a Goodwill years ago for $8.  I thought it was a great buy at the time.  Later on, I read all the negative comments about this (and lots of other Gerbers) online.  I started wondering if maybe it wasn't so great after all.  But.....you can't let other people make up your mind for you.  I look up the price of this relic and saw a retail of $60 now with a street price of $40, give or take.  I never carried it in the years that I have owned it.  Not even a day.  Never sharpened.  Factory edge.
I used to like Gerber knives.  Had some back in the day.  My neighbor who sold knives did a fairly regular business in LST and EZ Outs.  Boker Top Locks, or whatever you call them.  Applegates and Benchmade.  Those were his staples.  I do have a LST somewhere.  It was a nice light, always sharp little carry knife.  Likewise with this EZ Out as far as light and fairly flat.  Feels like it weighs about the same as my Opinel DYI.  I will take it out later and whittle some wood with it.
The skunks did some chemical weapons testing around my old farmhouse last night.  I am not really pleased about it, but I do understand if your head happens to be in the jaws of a coyote, you gotta do what you gotta do.  They don't just carpet bomb the vicinity just for chuckles.  Usually it is just some uninformed dog that is unaware that the little black and white kitty thing packs a punch.  Skunks are a little like the little short guy who walks around whistling and unconcerned in a tough neighborhood.  The local ruffians grin and see an easy mark until someone notices that the little guy is carrying a grenade.  Coyotes don't care.  Having an empty tummy and sharp teeth know little fear.  Especially if you have only been eating something that is long dead to begin with.  Or a few crumbs of cat feed leftover from someone's house.  Or their cat.
Back to the topic.  It is good to see friend Echo is up and around.  Always some interesting photos there and good morning awl.  Best wishes.  G

Day 1: Kicking off with breakfast!  This is a fun challenge!  I have more combo blades than I realized, doing inventory last night.  I didn't even include my Spirit butter blade, which I used the last time I did this challenge.  Like I said earlier, I'm trying to earn my Signal badge, so it will get the lions share of use.  I'll include pictures of my others and also annotate when and why I had to use them.

 :woohoo:

That’s a good approach, to participate in both challenges and get the badge for the one you want.

Just be sure you meet the requirements for the other badge (including the “new thread” stipulation if applicable).

This challenge lends itself to that because combo edges are versatile and are the go-to on a lot of the most popular multitools.  The enemy of good is perfection.

I've been whole day trying to upload a picture of me using a trailmaster for feathersticking. I don't know what is the problem.

Day 1

Here's my carry for the day, combo edge mini griptilian. This is the only combo edge that I was aware of it's location.

Every time I carry it,  I'm reminded that for rough and tough work they're pretty good and useful.

Thanks Antti. I somehow took a video of me using trailmaster. That's why the file size was too big.
