Life really does fly by.  I miss working on my grandparent's farm.
Day 26

My day started slow, and easy!  Found myself remembering summer days of my youth, and how fast it seems to have past.

This barn picture is a favorite, it resembles the barn that occupied the land next to my home growing up.  It is now gone,  all the land was donated to the Kalamazoo Nature Center.   My childhood home still stands, but we sold it this winter after mom past away last July.

Awl good and fond memories.

The lower level, had a milking parlor, 6 stalls, upper level would store bailed hay to the roof, being filling it with last cutting about now.

🥲

NEXTOOL seems to be a very handy pocket tool, Carries well in a slip, and easier to find in the bottom of my pocket that way.

I can remember the farm that my grandparents had in the mountains in NC.  Good memories from that place.
I found it once when the Boss Lady and I were driving through Otto on vacation years ago.  Went back to the area, this past spring and so very much has changed.

That's like the area my grandparent's farm was in.  The whole area is developed.  It's almost hard to believe.

Powernoodle Day 27

I'm guessing that I open 10 Amazon packages every week.  I can't recall the last time I've been to a store, other than an occasional grocery run.

The mini Suspension probably won't be much use in the yard today, but had to share the day with my Temu weed whacker.

Day 27

I almost forgot!!!

A BOND THAT ARRIVED Monday, apparently a TSA confiscated item was brand new in condition and stiffness.    A nail breaker to deploy the blade.

Completed oiling the pivots and working the lubricant between tools at the pivot, some improvement, but not for the blade.  Then notice the blade handles back spring air gap was noticeably thinner on the blade handles, and very tight against the blade. (New style)

So, inspected my assortment of keychain pliers and found the Sheffield’s flat blade was just a bit thicker than my other items and when I slipped it between the pivot and frame it increase that air gap.

Let it set overnight,  (did not want to pry, as it could break that back spring)

Well this morning, the BOND is 70% better at deploying  :woohoo:

The spring rides against the knife pivot and drops into the detent perfectly. The Phillips and Can opener operate  as expected.

Yeah, it looks like the tang on the blade is bigger causing more tension on that area.  Probably intentional to keep the blade from becoming a pocket trap like some people say Gen 1 is.  I was a little anxious about doing any prying/shimming on the spring.  I taped up the blade on mine and worked with it while watching sports.  It is getting more manageable.
I seem to recall someone was having trouble with the 'springs' on the painted Bonds cracking.  Was that you, Gordon?  Best wishes.  G

Yes. That was my experience.

Two separate occasions, Sienna color. The blade handle broke on both units at almost the same point.

No prying, just opening and closing exercise. Went from very hard moving just the blade, to very very easy. Then found the back piece was gone.

I have done same procedure on two stainless finished units with no issues.   Still gun shy to try the colored models.

And, now that sheaths are not included, likely will not!

I tried the tension method last night to safe myself from breaking a nail or cutting myself.  The taping of blade is smart, I was just tired last night to get tape and to manually work the pivot. Oil was my friend, but not 100%

I remember carrying a knife or SAK since middle school.  I even remember pickup trucks having gun racks in high school.  Guys would head out after school to find some doves, rabbits, etc.
Same here.  I received my first pocket knife at 8yo and always carried in my pocket from that point on.  I was going to give a 12yo neighbor boy a SAK when he took interest in one of mine,  when I asked the mom she was appalled I would even consider giving a knife to a child.

And trucks with gun racks to go hunting after school was also common.

It was a different time.  Some things change for the better, while others not so much.

Internet wet out yesterday before I had a chance to post and didn’t come back on until late morning, so her is yesterday’s

Mini flagship helped with outdorr coffee.  In addition to using the pliers as a pot lifter, I also use it to lift the hot wind screen and hot so I can put the alcohol stove out.  Then the pliers also work to lift stove when pouring excess fuel back in bottle.

Probably the biggest reason why I like having pliers for my hiking and camping multitool.  It's sure nice to have with something like that Sherry.
