Unless it is a translation of a known saying, I made it up. I have done my best to structure the Latin properly, but there may be a mistake here or there.

Regarding knives - De cultris

Ansam, non gladium teneto.
Hold the handle, not the blade.

Cultrum meum extra volas? Ferrarium rogato.
You want my spare knife? Ask the blacksmith.

Cultros egemus ut hanc vitam vivamus.
We need knives to live this life.

Si culter obtusus, aut acuito aut butyrum acquirito.
If your knife is dull, either sharpen it or buy butter.

Quando citri tibi dantur, cultrum quoque adeptato.
When you are given lemons, also get a knife.

Cultrum fero, quia tu non.
I carry a knife because you do not.

Calamum scribere; cultrumque, quia calami non caedunt.
A pen for writing; and a knife, because pens don't cut.

Culter tuus, aut in manum, aut involucro (debet esse).
Your knife must be either in your hand, or in its sheath.

Culterne ille in sinum tuum (est), vel felix es ut me videam?
Is that a knife in your pocket, or are you happy to see me?

Ille non culter; hic culter est.
That's not a knife; this is a knife.


Regarding lights - De lampadibus

Lampadem egebis.
You'll need a flashlight.

Aut lampadem aut tenebras.
Either a torch or darkness.

Etiam lampades parvae vividi in tenebras lucent.
Even small lights shine brightly in the darkness.



Regarding axes - De asciis

Asciam acuere habeo.
I have an axe to grind.

Ascia obliviscitur, vel arbor meminit.
The axe forgets, but the tree remembers.

Asciam humato, vel palam teneto.
Bury the hatchet, but keep the shovel.



Regarding mentality - De mente

Presudas, moreris.
You sweat, you die.

Ivi, serravi, fabricavi.
I went, I sawed, I made.

Cultro non aperis, forcipe non malleas.
Don't pry with your knife, don't hammer with your pliers.

Saccus cum omnia instrumenta nimis gravis erit.

Regarding multi-tools - De multi-ferramentis

Aut utrumque, aut paenitebis.
Either (get) both, or you'll regret it.

Semper multi-ferramentum novum egeo.
I always need a new multi-tool.

Multi-ferramentum proximum perfectum erit.
The next multi-tool will be perfect.

Multi-ferramenta multa ferro extra fero.
I carry many multi-tools for the extra iron.

Utrumque multi-ferramenta acquisivi, quia pecunia mea peram perflagrabat.
I bought both multi-tools, because my money was burning a hole in my wallet.




Regarding pens - De calamis

Semper calamum egeo.
I always need a pen.

Calamus gladio fortior.
The pen is mightier than the sword.

Cur semper calami mei abcedant?
Why do my pens always walk away?

Calamo meo scribito, non curre.
Write with my pen, don't run.



Regarding Swiss Army Knives - De Cultris Exerciti Helvetici

Swiss Army Knives rule.

I have a problem: not enough knives.

Not MTO based but one of my favorite sayings is "Memento mori" as it reminds me to try and make the most of the life we're given.
