Day27
Holiday battery time...
I have about 2 dozen random ghosts, skulls & pumpkins; plus 2 'snow globes' and a guitar playing skeleton all needing batteries of some sort.
(Most won't get them)

But the Imperial's awl makes a good pick for opening, poking and prying.
I used to be a lot of things, and someday will again.

DAY 28-Tropical Storm Watch and a rainy day ahead mean it's Matterhorn day!  I think my last post in this challenge will rate these knockoffs.

Day 28

Just finished watching the last day of the Aki Basho sumo tournament.  Watching the crowd at these events is quite amusing by itself.  Haven't decided whether to cook some beans again, or maybe pasta.  Latest storm track seems to indicate that the worst of the weather will be to the east.  Who knows.
I liked the Fisher photo.  Cute dog with a turkey snack.  Speaking of turkeys, I might have to post some turkey photos from yestiddy.  Best wishes.  G

I don't remember the demo knife I had with a round opener stud on the screwdriver.  I do remember all the blades were stiff.  I also had a civvy model.  DuraTool or whatever they called them.
You know, Barry?  If my Dad hadn't swiped my Cub Scout knife I might not have been in this need to acquire pocky knife mess.  One knife would have done me for years and years.  At least until I found another one.
In fact, I was happy carrying my Victorinox Trooper until I joined up with this group of wackos.  You could set it to music and make a jingle out of it.

I am definitely a WACKO… too!

Day 28

My Camillus Crossout is simplistic and functional.

Today, after the continued discussions in another area of the forum about a WAVE ALPHA, I became curious about scissors.

The claim, the New Wave Alpha will have the largest scissors on a MT.   I think ‘BS’!   The Surge scissors are large,  but the WINGMAN’s in an outside handle has a sizable scissors as well.

Here comparing it to a OZARK Grey scissors I used yesterday to cut away dead blooms.

Maybe my LM Wingman should be included as a SAK-A-LIK, cap/can opener, a package tool and scissors too!

The Wingman scissors are just fine.  I don't think slightly larger scissors are a 'draw' for me.  The itty ones on a Classic are often big enough.  This has been an entertaining and relaxing challenge.  Good folks.  Lots of different things and nice pix.  Well hosted.  Just a good time.  Best wishes to all.  Gary

Day 28

Here's a photo of the Curve with its clip partially open. You can see what I mean about it potentially colliding with the blade's edge.

It does carry rather nicely on a keychain, though. Here it is with my carabiner, keyring, keys, and some paracord.

Day 27 (Late)

I can only find so many pictures to take with this thing.

Is there any particular advantage for carbon steel on non-blade tools? Have any companies made a tool w/ stainless for the drivers, etc. and carbon only for the blades?

Y'all are doing great!!  Two more days to go and you'll be rid of me!  Well... not really.  Y'all are honestly stuck with me unless the chief says otherwise.  :D

Day 28

I really wanted to like the Gerber Bear Grylls pocket tool more but it's too much of a nail breaker when trying to pull out the small Phillips.  I got so frustrated with it I just dumped it in my office and grabbed a real screwdriver to finish what I was working on.  I should've grabbed another SAK-A-Like but I wasn't thinking.

Instead I pulled out a Gerber Keystyle, another Gerber SAK-A-Like, and use it's small flat head to pull out the short Phillips.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Day 29

If you want misinformation, just see what AI offers.  I thought I might check on the latest hurricane path.  Typed in Hurricane Imelda path.  Got an unwanted AI response.  Hurricane Imelda is set to threaten Georgia and the Carolinas next week.  Next week?  How about it's supposed to swerve way off to the east?
Went to a streaming place.  Typed in Fox Weather.  Got back a bunch of options.  Fox Weather number one.  Long Hair of Death movie number two.  Feet of Death movie number three.
I already knew what Long Hair of Death was.  Old Italian Barbara Steele movie.  Feet of Death was new to me.  Another Bigfoot genre movie.  Probably not weather related.
I stole the 'I'm a wacko' jingle from an old TV ad.  Dr. Pepper, I think.  I'm not sure.  I'm a Pepper.  You're a Pepper, etc.  I sounded like my Dad taking my Cub Scout knife was a traumatic event for me.  It really wasn't.  I didn't really care whether I had a knife or not at that time.
I watched parts of 4 or 5 movies yesterday.  None of them were interesting.  Maybe I should ask AI to recommend a good Bigfoot movie.  I think I saw one a while back.  Don't remember the title.  Campers.  Something throws sticks and rocks at them occasionally?  Something like that.
Time to post a photo.  Might give the weather channel another go.  Could be in the mood for that Barbara Steele movie......??
Best wishes.  G

For the end user, I'm not aware of any advantages. I'm also unaware of any multi that has stainless tools and a carbon steel blade. However, making the JOTS's combo tool out of carbon steel might make purchasing and manufacture easier for GEC.

Day 29

Today's job was removing staples. That's a job best suited to a one-piece tool, with pliers to follow in case any staples weren't removed cleanly. None of my SAK-alikes have pliers. So they had to sit back and watch while a Shard did the work and an MP400 was on-call.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Underneath that Marvel fabric was what I was told would be a piece of mahogany. I was misinformed. The edges had tell-tale signs of being a laminate. At least it will serve its purpose and I got to flick the MP400's pliers. :D

Day 29

Well, my image hosting site is having server issues so it won't let me upload my pics.      Yes, yes, I know....  :worthless:

So, use your imagination for now until the site comes back up properly.  :D

Picture me using the slide out blade on the Gerber Keystyle to break down a box for recycling.  Not the best deployment but it works.

Then picture me cutting a new watch battery off of the rest of the strip so I can bring my watch back to life.  Even though the scissors are made by Fiskars, I still prefer my Vic scissors.  They just seem to cut that much better.
