[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]    [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]      I mentioned there would be a mystery weed photo shoot.  I whacked weeds until I was whacked.  I'd like to know what kind of line the Stihl dealer put on my new machine.  That way I could make sure I never buy any by mistake.
Here is the weed.  I noticed a smell around it like ragweed or something.  It is about 4 feet tall or a little more in spots.  If it were an English weed, I know friend Gra_Farmer would instantly recognize it.  Might just be a US thing or an invasive.  Let's see if there are any Weedologists out there.  Best wishes.  G

MONDAY MINI CHALLENGE

Need a volunteer to run the last mini challenge for July 28.  You say the requirements and everyone else will attempt to conform to them.  Let me know by posting on this thread before Saturday.  Contestants will need to know a few days in advance to get their items and photos in order.  Only current Anniversary Challenge members are eligible.
Best wishes.  G

On the weed front, I saw the suggestion for Horseweed from friend WECSOG.  That might be it.  I will know more when it flowers.  Assuming I let it flower.  The stuff is glyphosate resistant, so it is a good thing I didn't do Round Up.  At least it isn't a problem as far as contact.  Thanks for the research and you might want to check the badge list to see if there is a Weed Detective award?  G

Day 24

Here is a quick pic of today’s carry. The trusty Peanut and the newest addition to my accumulation of knives, the new OPINEL neo.6 in walnut. Stay sharp my friends.

Gary, great to see others using the Peanut. Such a great little knife.

Our friend MTSAK skinned a deer with his CASE Peanut.  I wouldn't have attempted that personally.  There used to be a bunch of people in my town who got interested in Peanuts and started collecting them.  That was when the smooth bone pink colored ones came out.  They didn't cost too much at that time.  And were cute.  They are still cute, but the price has gone out the roof.
Be sure to let us know what you think about the Neo.
 Best wishes.  G

Day 24

I was inspired, by BPRoberts doing the Nessmuk challenge and by Noa Isumi showing his brush axe the other day, to dig out my bag full of axes, machetes and saws.  It took me a few days to locate the bag because it had been moved to an obviously much better and more logical and aesthetically pleasing location, improving the Feng Shui of the whole house, compared to where I had left it, by someone who didn't tell me that she had moved it or where she had moved it and to which location I will return the bag when I'm done taking my silly pictures.
 :twak:

While we're on the subject, how about everybody showing us your axe, hatchet, tomahawk, machete, or ridiculously large knife outdoors for next Monday?  Bonus points for showing mid-cut in a branch.

Going through another bag, today,  and found an old Sheffield keyring multitool.  It's a clone of a Seiber M4 tool.

I have read the zooms are good recorders with good price.

Is that a mic or earphone? I remember when I needed a mic and plug an earphone to the mic jack...

Before I have a recorder, I always thought a phone is all I need. But with a recorder I dont have to worry about space, it can playback in faster speed, and do not need to worry about battery and that is a big plus over a phone.

It's actually both of them if I got it right, so I just have that in my ear between the phone and ear canal and I can hear the call like if it's not there and it records both sides of the call. It's called olympus tp8

Day24
With with my Jeep telling me temps of 103f yesterday and 97f right now thought I'd show cool kit for keeping cool...the humble hand fan.
If Im going to an outside event one of these Japanese fans from Daiso will very often end up in my pocket. Simple is sometimes the best and these have gotten me through many a parade, park festival and even a couple black outs.

I used to be a lot of things, and someday will again.

:iagree:   This last mini challenge should be fun.  I enjoyed friend BPRoberts Nessmuk musings and well-written comments on the use of the three primary edged tools of the writer.  A few axes, etc. for Monday should be interesting and something different for the Anything Goes description of the challenge.
I did manage to do some catching up on my outdoor property maintenance.  It looks like I might make it another year without buying a new battery for the Cub.  So far, I have gotten by with plugging the old battery into a charger for a couple of hours before mowing.  The Stihl is filling in for my old faithful Echo trimmer.  The gas cap is poorly designed.  It has a tether on it to keep it from being lost (a plus), but it is hard to remove.  I almost had to resort to a pair of pliers on one occasion.  There is a corrugated plastic sleeve on the shaft exactly where you would reach to carry the tool.  If you do, the whole thing spins in your grip and turns upside down.  The sleeve is completely free to spin and no way to tighten it.  It will probably get the duct tape cure.  The string head looks flimsy.  The motor has a lot of pep and cranks okay.
Best wishes.  G

I need to cut our grass and our neighbor's grass.  (She's disabled and on a fixed income so we offered to help so she wouldn't spend the money.)  It's higher than my ankle but still below my knee, most of it... I think.  Good thing my boy likes to use the lawnmower so we can knock it out in half the time that it used to take me.

Day 24

Needed some assistance from the Rough Ryder this morning.

Day 25 - I always have a MT of some sort in my pocket but it's always nice to have a nice set of pliers on hand so I keep this bacho MT in my car and the spring-loaded pliers are totally OK for emergency. Then I also have this ka-bar hobo knife after an horrible experience where they served lunch with paper utensils on a course we had at work. Never trying to eat meat with a paperfork again (I used my SAK blade to cut the steak)

Day 25

I opened the front door and watched a deer nibble some multi-flora roses at the edge of the yard.  Just did a little taste, then moved on without doing any serious brush clearing.  Like it was supposed to.  These young deer.  Can't count on them.
Need to go to W-Mart for some groceries.  Too hot inside to cook.  Cold cuts and sandwiches for today.  I think I had a Pop Tart for breakfast.  I'm not sure.  Might buy some milk.  The dates on the milk were all almost expired on my last grocery trip, so I didn't buy any.
Opinel and some kiddie-poo cereal.  And a powder horn.  Best wishes.  G

I sure am glad that there was no Monday Mini-Challenge requirement for a Hot Wheels tool toy.  Everyone else on here would have struck out.  I crept down to W-Mart and bought some milk and bread.  It felt like a furnace with the sun heating all that asphalt in the parking lot.  Coming home was like falling into a creek by comparison.  Very shady at my place.  I might have messed up by mowing yestiddy.  Dry and hot for a while supposedly.  Grass might turn brown and crispy.  So be it.
Finally got a little mail.  I was beginning to think the mail girlie probably thought I was dead and stopped delivering to my box.  The powder horn knife in the photo is an old Parker.  If anybody wants to post photos of watches, coolers, camping gear, boots, Legos, or Kit Kat bars now is the time.  This challenge is winding down fast.  Best wishes.  G

Haven't posted a proper Victorinox photo yet.  This is my favorite of the larger framed Swiss Army knives.
One of my first Deluxe Tinkers.
Years ago I found a fellow that was making SAK scales.  This was sometime before everyone was making them so I contacted him about making me a set with a tread pattern... This was the result.  He operated under the name of Remade Knives, at the time, but several years ago he simply dropped off the grid.
Anyway, I've always loved this SAK pattern and the scales that he made for me.

Day 25

I'm off work today so I slept in, mowed the lawn and fixing to go to shoe shopping this afternoon. Feet hurt at work and looking for something with a thicker shock absorbent sole. I'm going light today so I figured I would jump on the Swiss Champ train.
