Day 25

Here's a rock. Specifically, a rock I picked up on the shore of Lake Superior recently. Notice how the base rock is porous, but then it has a dark reddish brown inclusion emerging from it? It also has a smaller one on the other side btw.
When I saw that, I thought it looked like iron.

I've seen a few mentions of neodymium magnets on the forum. I like rare earth magnets and have a few of them. In the second photo is one of my magnets proving that the inclusion is indeed iron.

The magnet has a pretty strong grip on the washing machine lid too, even through the Case catalog.

Yeah, the new ones are plastic here too. But I do still have a few of the metal ones.
I've used one can of Titegroup, several years ago. But my go-to fast powders are Alliant Bullseye and Vihtavouri N310. Actually I've been using Bullseye since it was made by Hercules.

I've also saved a few cans,i use a couple as pen holders.
Shooting related gear makes cool display pieces,if you're so inlined  :D

Day 25
It's so hot today that I've basically gone dormant.  I haven't tried to do anything physical today.  When I realized it was after 6 and I hadn't taken a picture yet, I looked at the pile on my desk and decided a picture of all of it was easier than making a choice.

Here is a quick pic of today’s carry since I am running late. Same setup as yesterday. Really enjoying carrying the new OPINEL.

Have a Great Weekend awl!

Day 23:

Not much going on.

I really need to redo my sim setup. First of all, the Thurstmaster T128 is pretty mediocre, especially the pedals (tiny and 100% plastic).  I could've got an open box/refurbished Logitech G29 or G920 for what I paid at Walmart for the T128-WITH the shifter and clutch pedal.

Also, pedals in the floor, steering wheel clamped to an already pretty uncomfortable cheap desk don't mix. My right shoulder and knee have been bugging me all day today as a result.

Plans are to gift a copy of American Truck Simulator and the wheel/pedals to a buddy of mine (a trucker himself), and go with the G29/G920 and a better setup.  First of all, I'm going to try the higher-end pedals Thrustmaster sells as compatible.

Day 24:

Klein 1550-2--date code KK.  A late production Utica example made just before Klein started having the brown-handled knives being made overseas.

First of all, I troubleshooted the landline. Verizon tried to say it was our end and tried to sucker us into taking some new system that's cellular based. I'd rather just drop the landline and stick with the cellphone for that--it would save $100 a month, yet my grandmother has been attached to the landline with its less than stellar reliability. Unscrewed the "customer access panel" with my Klein screwdriver (not on the knife). Tried a Schrade Walden 204S I had, only to find the screwdriver was rounded previously.

Second job, dismantling an old air hockey table. I had to remove an unholy amount of screws, but found the cheap Chinese particle board so compromised from nearly 20 years of moisture in the basement, that a hammer easily broke it apart (also glad I got rid of it--found an old mouse nest inside). Sawzall for cutting into manageable chunks. Recovered the fan and some other electronic bits. The blower makes a great cooling fan!

It's a Kershaw Speedsafe 3871, spring assisted opening with a frame lock.  Another really nice knife I got from the Sos Surprise Giveaway Box.

Day 26

A six-pack sized soft cooler with Opinel and small fixie from my belt pack.  My Pennsylvania pal who insinuated that I was a dope for owning Opinel knives also made a slur toward the little Gear Aid fixed blade.  I must have sent him a photo?  He said, "GearAid, I bet we both know where that came from."
Of course, we are still pals.  He is a knife snob who likes to talk about custom stuff.  Wait till I send him a photo of my homemade SwissChamp that I made from two smaller SAKs held together by a rubber band.
Best wishes,
G

Day 26

A few of my favorite SAKs. Right: Super Tinker, pre-hook. I've had that one since the '80s. My parents bought it for me on a trip to Europe. It was my EDC for years.

Left: Deluxe Tinker. A buddy who has since passed, gave it to me. Very useful toolset.

Top: Soldier, 1961 version. This one was made in 2008, the last year of production.

I think that probably one of the first badges that I put in for was the one for paracord.
When the Boss Lady bought the golf cart it came with the same 2 plastic key fobs that were original from 1997.  Às I've always hated that style óf advertising fob I decided to come up with my own style with paracord.
Today, I have the 2 designs that I went with.
Guess the orange and black came out on top.
