How to do a wedding properly
on: September 19, 2025, 04:04:49 PM
I got distracted and forgot to post about this, but a few weeks ago Megan and I attended her friend's wedding.  Why does that matter to anyone here?  Simple....

It was held at the local car museum!

This thread is going to be pretty much all pictures I took at various times during the festivities and there won't be much rhyme or reason to what gets posted where.  Sorry.

Just relax and enjoy the beautiful steel!

Sorry for the poor lighting.  Every chance we got during the festivities I snuck off to look at cars.

Okay, while the Delorean may have been my favorite, I have to admit if I was going to drive off in any of them, it would be the old Power Wagon.

I love Deloreans, but the Power Wagon is much more my style.

That yellow Ford Econoline is sweet.  But it looks like it is front-heavy, and would flip up on its nose at a stop light.  And I love the Mystery Machine.  I'm thinking about a Mystery Machine sticker on the back window of my sweet, sweet Toyota Sienna.

As for weddings, on June 1 my son called and said he was getting married in 2 weeks to his girlfriend of 3 years who fortunately we like.  Two weeks later, it was done at a church with 8 guests.  For me, that was the best possible wedding short of eloping.

Oh nice, normally once a year we go to the Henry ford museum, you can spend the whole day, especially if you go to the greenfield village or where the kid took us for my bday last year, the actual assembly plant, but the museum is sooo worth it, I couldn’t believe the first time we went and I actually got to see the limo Kennedy was actually shot in, and also the chair Lincoln was in, but there’s soooooo much more!

Thanks guys- I was a bit surprised Megan let me keep the pathetic beard like growth for the wedding, but there you go!

I can't honestly say there is a car there I wouldn't absolutely love to have- the Econoline really appeals to me as a truck guy, but the Corvettes....

I mean, there's nothing else out there like a vintage Corvette.

I will bet though, that the Sienna will probably rack up more mileage than all of these cars put together and still get you home!   :D

:like: and congratulations to the newly married! I do like the Chevelle, despite it having "only" a 396, and the Cord gets my vote for being the best-looking vehicle ever. The pragmatist in me would select the FJ45 or the Dodge M37, though. Just please don't get me started on Taylor Swift...

Looks like a great day was had by all.  The only thing out of place was that neither the land cruiser or the power wagon had a spec of dirt or mud on them anywhere.  That's just not natural.

That is a sweet museum. Nice venue for a wedding. Beats the typical golf club or event hall.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

Nice pics Grant :like: -and your mention of Corvettes reminded me that I need to post a pic of a beauty I got the chance to drive a few weeks ago, of 1959 vintage.

Fancy seeing the General Lee here... OK, at the rate they were busily tossing it around when filming the Dukes, I might have suspected there'd be more than one genuine copy around. Here's one I saw in April in the Marconi museum in Tustin, California.
Cheers!

A lot of those Chargers are still around. General Lee replicas/tributes/clones almost certainly outnumber real examples by considerable. And congratulations on getting to drive that fantastic old 'Vette!

Thanks  :tu:, you're probably right, although the sign made a credible effort to certify it was the real deal.

Funny story: I'd got a coupon for driving a 1968 convertible Jag E-type as a birthday present (there's a company in our city that rents out classic cars) but while I drove it, the rather complicated braking system kept playing up, occasionally seizing solid until it cooled off, so I felt a bit unsafe driving it anywhere else than straight back to the rental company. They promised I could take it again when it'd be repaired a few weeks later. So I went back later, only to hear that they weren't actually sure the problem had in fact been fixed, despite some new parts. I must have displayed the correct mix of annoyance and flexibility because I was then offered to drive the '59 'Vette instead  :D

Note BTW that my General Lee pic also shows a DeLorean  :ahhh
