Day 9

Black Climber on cigar duty.  Cigar was just OK, but Mark Twain quote on the band was a nice touch…

Day 9

was very busy, but I remembered to snap my pocket dump before going to bed.

Had quite a day planned today (day 10) but there was a price to pay for yesterdays busy schedule, so a migraine hit me in the morning and put much of my plans on hold. That means less interesting picture than intended, but there will be something. Later.

Day 9:

Klein 44000 and Browning 703--both Japan.

I'm thinking the Browning is '90s vintage. It's really well made. I've been considering adding a few more of these, as they're great quality, and rarely expensive. I've noticed once source on eBay has tons of old stock for cheap.

PS: the red lanyard is, in fact, factory on these small ones.

Day 10:

Kaufmann. It's built like the Mercator (which Kaufmann is best known for)--but doesn't have a Mercator tang stamp. It's about 3.5" or so closed. Today, Otter sells it as a Mercator Small.

I have no idea how old, but it still has a fiber spacer.  Best I can tell, Samson Cordage/Samson Rope was based in MA, and had a Bellingham subsidiary. Yet, in the early '80s, they moved everything to Bellingham, WA.

Black ink mini-challenge

Since a lot of y'awl showed some great drawings, I decided to draw something simple. A few of my favorite Bible verses have been added. Thanks for making this a great mini-challenge! :salute:

Day 9
Was enjoying my beer and the Indiana vs Oregon football game a little too much and forgot to post.  Mini Flagship with a black out beer can.

Day 10
The Spirit opened a package containing new notebooks.

For the mini challenge, I did just write something quick on a piece of paper, but then for fun, decided I’d take the picture with a recipe that was in my previous notebook and I want to save.

If it’s a choice between drinking a beer or the Master Tonic, I’ll be sticking with the beer.

Having shown my hippest Delémont, the very slick S101, here is the country cousin that has never been inside a jazz club, the 10.

Such a shame that EvoGrip got 86ed. I really like it.

Caching up.

Day 10
...didn't turn out as expected due to my migraine. Tools were ready to go but body couldn't keep up and take advantage of them. Mini challenge wasn't so hard though and proved to be one of few tasks within my limited capacity.

Day 11
Head feels much better today. Basically same tools as yesterday, but actually put to use. Got stuff done today.

While I usually prefer to carry a folding knife for around the hose work, keeping a fixed blade on a dangler works very well in the cold temps we have now. When I go outside I can pull a puffy pant over my regular pants and keep the sheath clipped to my regular pants and let it dangle over the hem of my puffy pants.

You have a G-Shock square with the new MIP display - pretty damn cool!  I am planning to get one myself.

That is pretty much it.  All the ingredients are know to have health benefits with most being anti-bacterial and/or anti-viral.  I’ve been using Master Tonic or the very similar Fire Cider for several years. Can’t prove a negative, but I haven’t been sick.

Some drawer knob tightening was done with the Shard. Its shape seems to work particularly well in that role.

You have a G-Shock square with the new MIP display - pretty damn cool!  I am planning to get one myself.

Well it's technically a square watch case and it's indeed a G-Shock, but I don't think it qualifies as a square G-Shock by the purists definition.
I think only the 5000-series are considered true squares and direct descendants of the OG DW-5000C. Mine is also not new (coming up on 3.5 years), whereas the GW-BX5600 is a true square with MIP and just recently released, so maybe that's the one you're thinking of?

The MIP display is indeed very cool. It's the most legible digital watch I've ever owned, and the only negative display that's been useful in all light conditions.
I've not used my LCD G-Shocks since getting this. It wears better, reads better and operates better (buttons are easier to operate). There's no going back.
It does not have Multiband 6 and tough solar like the new square, which would have been nice, but not a big issue. Time can sync to mobile over bluetooth and I'm still on the original battery (now well into its 4th year). Not bad at all for a semi-smart watch.

Impressive results. I may brew a batch up and see if I can tolerate it. It’d be a bold bacterium that dared to mess with a person who was full of that stuff.

I wondered if it was the GW-BX5600 (which I have my eye on) or the older model. Damn cool watch anyway, and for me personally I don’t think Multiband 6  adds  much if you have Bluetooth sync.  I’m always with my phone and never spend enough time away from a network signal that I would have to worry about my watch being a second out.

EDIT: The shot of the watch in sunlight really shows the enhanced legibility with the MIP display. Looks excellent.

Day 12

I hung a large and quite heavy antique mirrror.

My Fatmax 8m tape assisted in getting it in the right place.

Wiha electric driver was also employed in fixing it to the wall.
