What do you mean by "thumb stud" Karter?

Basically, the way it's supposed to operate is you pull the two handles apart, fold up the plier head then attach the "floating handle" to the little spur on the plier head (ah - is that what you meant by thumb stud perhaps? The sticky-out bit?).

You can open a Crunch one-handed but it takes a bit of practice like this impressive individual clever bugger a few years back

I've never seen anyone mod a Crunch with a pocket clip - it wouldn't be that straightforward although anything's technically possible I suppose!
I used to come here a lot.

Yes sir the sticky out bit. Also have you ever tried to take apart the crunch where tge blades are for a pocket clip? Or perhaps drill and tap the crunch itself for a donor pocket clip?

I've taken Crunches apart to repair / refurb, but always assembled them as standard. To attach a clip you'd need a slightly longer pivot I would think as there's not much slack in there.

If you do take one apart - take care not to lose any of the funny shaped washers between the tools - they're a bitch to replace, lol.
I used to come here a lot.

The Kick or Wingman pocket clip should fit with minimal work.

I just wanted to get on the record to the fact I own a Crunch, bought it quite a few years ago just to have, not EDC as I was carrying a PST and then a SuperTool 200 in those days.

The Kick pocket clip fits the Crunch, sort of, it goes on but needs a dab of weld to stop it rotating.
I've replaced the barrel pivot with a set-screw because I've modded mine to have an external friction folding blade.
Then I added a pair of Victorinox scissors (where the knife used to be) and a PSTII diamond file.
I've made a high torque bit adaptor which can fit in the jaws or be used stand-alone.
Since taking the photos I've reground the knife into a plain edge, which is more use to me than the original serrated.

Pry bars seem to be all the rage, so I thought I'd try a Shard as the starting point. The Shard is nicely made and I can see the benefits.
However, I don't want to carry multiple multitools so I've converted it into a Crunch accessory pry.
Chopped off and MIG welded both sides to give a good grip in the Crunch jaws. I've also increased the bend angle of the head.
As an aside I was very impressed with the metal from which the Shard is made - it's very hard indeed.

I've had my Crunch for close to 15 years , it always goes on motorcycle rides,
they pair nicely with a SAK . For me it's all about the vise grips.. just can't beat them. :multi:

Great idea.   :tu:

The Kershaw A100 uses a similar concept for it's accessory bit holder (ie clamped in the plier jaws), and it also has a longitudinal groove in the jaws to hold a saw blade (eg hacksaw).  There are all sorts of possibilities once you have locking plier jaws with a very tight grip  :)

I've found the Crunch and Vic OH Soldier make a good combo..
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

The Kershaw is where I got my ideas from  :salute:
The first tool I made was the "high torque" bit driver, but you are right - the locking jaws are the killer feature of all multitools!

23!!!! In that case I count myself quite lucky that I managed to get hold of a secondhand, but virtually unused, one recently at a very good price. I think it's an excellent tool and surprisingly small/lightweight/pocket friendly yet also extremely well built. It's part of my EDC along with a Wave fitted with a Rebar plier head (which I like because of the replaceable wire cutters) which I keep in my daily bag.

Quality tool - everyone should have one :)

23 Crunches   Wow  !!!!  :o

I suppose as some one who owns 113 PSTs I should be wary of lobbing any rocks towards your glass house   :-[   ::)     )
My defence is that there are a whole lot of different variants in the PST line, and they aren't making them anymore.  ;)
