I really hate this place and you folks!!!

I was happy with my Tenacious or Buck 110LT and my several SAKs.

Then you have to go spouting about the Salt series. Now I want one.

I’d go with black handle. I have read the yellow handles fade on some folks. Then do I go for the satin or black blade??  Then plain edge or serrated??

Looks like this thing is going to cost me just under a hundred bucks!!!

Arggg!!!

Yup they are a bunch of enablers.

I've only 1 salt no problems with fading that I've noticed doesn't get a lot of use but is constantly subjected to salt water and could be left for a few days without washing and other then a slight discolouration on the etching it's perfect.

So yeah a nice knife.

Plain or serrated depends on what you have in mind for it i guess. I went for serrated as rope webbing etc is what I cut with it mostly that and spreading peanut butter.

Satin or black blade?  I've no idea tbh I've only looked at the standard H1 with yellow handles as that fits what I need it for

Good luck with the hunt  and as regards price well you pay about 1/2 ish what we pay over here ☺

Or you could stay happy with what you have and save $100 and spend it on a road trip or memories  :drink:

I think I’ll go with eamo and save my money.  I don’t have any need for this knife. It’s really cool, but he truth is I just have no need.

Heading down to Pigeon Forge later today, for a weekend getaway with the wife and 16 yr old kid.  Will stop at Smokey Mountain Knife Works and see what grabs my attention!

you know you're lieing to yourself right ?

I'm eyeing up a dragonfly salt which i have no "need" for, but "just in case", handy to have on me in the boat even though I already have a salt and my fellow paddlers also have knives . . . . . the lies we tell ourselves

One thing that helps me to stay away from such a purpose is my self induced hatred of spending over $30-$40 on a knife.

I’m perfectly happy with my multitude of sub $40 SAKs and $30 Buck 110s!

If the Buck wasn't a LT I'd have a good reason for you to buy a Salt......

H1 is funny, I've recently been able to compare cutting between it and 14C28N, better steel, better grind......sharper, yet cutting some materials the H1 feels like it has less resistance.

Makes no sense at all because the comparison blade is kershaw Skyline, thinner blade, more slice-compatible grind.......but H1 has something.

I'll be on the street crying about being unable to eat knives, but for now my latest indulgence and maybe one or two future ones make me happy.

Most start cheap and work up, the truth is most of us should start in the upper-middle and save a bunch of $$.  That's where I see the Salts.

Maybe not so much at the current prices though

I was like that. Until I wasn't. Still haven't reached 3-digits on a single knife but I'll get there, I'm sure.

Also, don't go on about those $30 Buck 110 when we only get them for €80+ over here...

Arggg!!!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Though I do not have one, I've read over and over that with H1 steel it may be better to go serrated.

When I do buy one, it'll probably be the Atlantic Salt

I'm intrigued by the serrated vs. plain-edge debate.

I've got the plain edge version and have been perfectly happy with it, although, I tend to use it for short periods of time out on the water, especially salt water. So, my experience maybe biased.

Nevertheless, the serrations look like a pain to resharpen well and the plain-edge is fairly easy to sharpen. So, I went with the plain edge.

Have you guys seen a big difference?
