I got a Deluxe Tinker in today.  I think it's an older model since the pliers don't have the crimper area and the scales don't have a spot for a straight pin.

Just noticed that it doesn't have a hook either   maybe it's not a Deluxe Tinker.

ETA: The round Philips has a can key, and it only has a toothpick, no tweezers.

Nice one!  :tu: I've never been in the right place at the right time to grab one of those, but have considered building something along those lines

Nice green colored scales!  :woohoo: Another can key!! Like corned beef? Look for Libby's canned corned beef at your grocer's - in a small rectangular can from Brazil. Opens with a can key. Look at similar canned meats. Still used in South America, Philippines and similar regions.

These arrived in the past few days . . .

Small tinker which needs more cleanup and scales polishing. Has slotted can key Phillips. More ready than ever for canned goods anywhere during the Zombie Apocalypse now!

Can key slot in Phillips restored now after previous owner had tried to squeeze it shut   (probably didn't know what it was for)

This nice blue Cellidor Prince which needs a little more work polishing its scales . . . I've got new black scales and may simply put them on it.

Recently discontinued this year, a new Sentinel Plus with back layer Phillips; this is the liner lock version. It's a 111mm Apprentice minus the combo opener (too bad they couldn't put it on these; too late now with its discontinuation).

BNIB 2014 limited run Woodsman (add a wood saw layer to an Explorer). I added the mini driver to the corkscrew and a straight pin.

Got one more I'll put in a separate posting.

This Executive also just in . . . with a broken spring (that I knew about from the pix) . . . paying much less than for one with working spring. I have a stash of spare springs in all three sizes. This one is interesting as the scissors has a screw, and also has the groove for the end of the spring to ride in. My method of installing a spring was developed some decades ago when I suffered broken springs much more often. This is the first spring I've installed in well over ten years (a tribute to their spring metallurgy improvement ??). I use very small needle-nose pliers with smooth jaws (no serration).

The first step is getting the edge of the curl started into the hole while pressing the leaf part firmly against the inside of the scissors handle. Note how it's tilted slightly so that the hairpin in the spring is against the scissors handle, and you can see how it's aligned to slide into the slot now.

Using the needle-nose pliers in my other hand, I gently squeeze the curled part into the hole. If the leaf is lined up sufficiently with the slot, it will snap into place without undue pressure. It shouldn't take too much force, which could damage the spring at the slot, where it will eventually break some time later (know this all too well from experience). I had to let go of the spring with my left hand to take this photo but you can see that it's down in the slot and hole now.

In less than a minute (not counting shooting the photos), it's done! I check to ensure the spring is straight and its end follows the handle properly.

This is how I replace spring. Don't need the fancy Victorinox tool. If a broken end is still in the hole. I press it out using the nose of these pliers. The tools on this one are in excellent condition. Blade needs sharpening and the springs need some cleaning and lube. May replace its scales with some new black ones I've got stockpiled as these show heavy pocket wear.

Pretty nice haul John, I especially like the Woodsman.  Good info on the spring replacement although my execution doesn't seem to go as well as yours.  😜

Thanks . . .
The trick I found if you look at the 2nd photo is holding the leaf portion of the spring near the curl firmly against the scissors handle so that it lines up with the slot while the edge of the curl has just started into the hole . . . and gently squeezing the curl into the hole while you're holding it there. Helps if you have a bench magnifier or magnifying glasses of about 5x to see it better while doing it. Getting the leaf to line up with the slot is normally the biggest problem people have with installing them. Got better with it each time. 25-30 years ago I was replacing one every year or so, mostly in the 58mm Classics.

Already stocked!

Planning on making some corned beef sandwich spread later this week and storing it in a pint Mason jar in the refrigerator. It's been eons since I've had that (more decades than I'll admit to)  :)

Just in late this afternoon . . .

'08 Victorinox 1961 Soldier. It makes a nice matching pair with the '07 Wenger Soldier (last year they were made). Some quick and dirty photos right after unwrapping it. I need to clean it up and polish the main blade.

I just received my first SAK (not counting classics) in the mail.  The standard pioneer X, I was trying to get my hands on a blue or red one but I couldn't take the wait any longer.  I will probably end up being hooked on these now.  I love all the alox colors, in addition to the standard SAK's.
