03 Soldier arrived. Pretty close to like new condition. A little grit in the pivots and a couple spots of surface rust, like new otherwise. Noticeably different from my SI. Not sure which I prefer until I get a chance to carry it for a time.

  Nice!!!! Be gentle, in that condition, that's quasi collectable. I mean, if you anticipate cutting up concrete blocks etc, carry something else that day...just my 2 cents.  :salute:
I've been questioning using this since this afternoon. I'm not a collector. I like to use my SAKs. If this is a collectible SAK I'll get rid of it. History of any kind shouldn't be marred. I'm wondering how common these are?

I had to look a couple of years for mine at a price I liked....not super rare or anything But other collectors incl. Jazzbass could probably tell you some production numbers. "Less common" might be a good descriptor of that knife.
I'm not a hard user, but I'll be especially careful with this one. My OCD is what made me buy it in the first place. Something about the number 3.

  I know what you mean....some days I buy a Ranger for no reason.....to go with my 20 something others.  Sort of like Mel Gibson in Conspiracy Theory.....maybe the gov is tracking my Ranger purchases.  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

20 plus!?  Back in August it was 16.     (said the man with a couple hundred Classics) (at least they're all different.   :D )

  In my defense, there are 3, 4 and 5 back layer examples and several don't have the camping logo.....and uh, one is blue...and one has flowers and....

Thanks Cali! Not sure just yet. I'd like to add scissors and saw to my cadet, but I don't think I have the skills required for peening. May just add a saw and nail file to my salesman.

I ended up with a very similar thing by adding scissors and saw to a Sportsman...and let me tell you, I carry it very often. One of my favorites of all my SAKs (custom or factory models.)

Highly recommend that combo of tools!

Pretty sure this is the way I'll go. Just need to buy a SAK with a saw that I can salvage.

This little beauty showed up in the mailbox today. I originally bought it to use as a base for a custom job from Syph, before I learned he didn't want to work on this size SAK anymore.

I love my Wenger SI and didn't want to molest it for a custom job.  Guess now I will just stick it in a drawer or pass it along to one of the boys.

.........

Not true - I'd say.
I am sure if you want an Alox mod and are willing to pay the price for the base frame (which you already have), donors, components and time Syph will make it for you.
You still see a few in his thread from time to time.

I think it is more customer demand, pricing and titanium scales that is making his customers choose 91mm

He told me he didn't want to work on the 93mm anymore. I took it that he didn't prefer messing with them nowadays.
