Not exactly a SAK, but it is a Victorinox-nailclipper  :D

(Image removed from quote.)
Does anyone know who makes these? I understand they are outsourced. I have seen some that look alike made by a Korean firm, Kowell. Those with the Gerber name look the same too. Any ideas?

Congrats thats a real beauty, how do you rate the electricians blade?

It is nice but I can't use it very well at the moment because I'm missing a chunk of flesh from the end of my 'stripping thumb'   :ahhh

To be honest it won't get a lot of use stripping as I mostly use my cutters at work, but it would be rude not to own one as I am a sparky  :D

A friend of mine has given me a well-used Explorer (pre-1991).

As noted elsewhere, good knife, but the Phillips simply doesn't function. It won't fit a phillips head screw.

By the way, how did you know that was a daffodil? Hand over your man card. (unless you're a woman, of course)

I'm allowed to know what dafs look like, I'm married :) Man card retained, for now. :P

Nice knife Lynn!!!  No matter what incarnation the Explorer is a fantastic tool.  I agree with your assessment of the phillips to an extent.  It's more of an extreme light duty driver, and it works well on #2 phillips but thats it.  It also strips too easily and wears down quickly if you slip.

As to not derail this thread on the topic of my phillips head, here's a link to where I begin discussing it in my 'Explorer Minus Hook' thread.

For one, we derail threads around here all the time!!

BUT, to keep this one on track I responded in the thread you specified.  Back on track here, I don't have a latest SAK since my last update so I'm due for one!

I got a used Rambler and a used Minichamp II in the mail today, and a new Sportsman yesterday.

The Sportsman is a great little pattern; a really good combination of everyday useful tools. I can get by without the #2 Phillips, since it has the can opener with the screwdriver tip that fits reasonably well, and the nail file tip doubles as a #1 Phillips. The awl is always welcome, and the corkscrew will probably see occasional use.

Amici,
Just picked up another VIC OHT but with cammo scales along with a first version Trekker that I really have been enjoying despite the fact that it doesn't offer the OHO ability.

Cheers,
Serge

Picked up a Tinker on the cheap from the local hardware store.  I sent Lynn my Tinker to hep her out, and I'm glad she likes it.  But within a couple of days, I realized something-the Tinker is still my favorite SAK, and I don't feel right not having one around.  :(  So, all is right with my little world again.  :)

Hi Victor!

beautifullll ones!!!

help me if I should buy all those to my collection...I already bought the silver one because of the different shield, and I believe that the orange and the black are the same collors of the already released blacks and last year orange.
But the red, is it the same color tone as the old red cadet?
And the blue, is it the same as the special edition blue cadet released last year? :ahhh

thanks!!!

Quite lovely!  :salute: But some of them look so much like others already released before. Still I think I want at least one mainly for the sheath. :tu:

The red, orange and black are the same color as the regular cadets. The silver one of course has the silver shield. The blue one is definitely different. The Special run Blue Cadet is darker than the regular Cadet.

I suggest you buy all of them so you can compare yourself ...  :D

I just won this vintage Electrician

This is what they were like when I first started perusing the Victorinox catalog as a lad in the late 80s or early 90s.

It's a mark of quality given to Swiss manufacturers. You can read about it here.
http://www.wengerna.com/the-crossbow-an-exclusive-symbol-of-swiss-quality

The shield itself is an old version used on the Wengerinox stamped Wenger knives from the early '50s I think.
