Yes, basically what's been said.  Before Wenger standardized on their current logo in the 70s, they used quite a few different ones with variations.

The one depicted on that knife represents one of their main logos for their larger knives just prior to them standardizing on the current one. Essentially they used a variation of what is known as the Swiss Federal Sheild substituting the the crossbow with "SUISSE" for the cross.

The red color of this knife is actually a bit deeper than the current red alox patriots and more of the brushed finished is pressent in the anodizing, so maybe the surface of the knife was prepared differently before anodizing.

It's a mark of quality given to Swiss manufacturers. You can read about it here.
http://www.wengerna.com/the-crossbow-an-exclusive-symbol-of-swiss-quality

That is a fantastic bit of history. Thanks for sharing that link. Now that I read it, I consider it a real shame that Victorinox no longer uses it as part of their tang stamping. It's like they have given up some of their Swiss heritage

A nice Stag Champion.  Courious as it has the small clip-point (Angle) blade, and aluminum head tweezers, but no +PAT on the can-opener. very nice condition, the tools on the backside had what looked like their original dried oil stains, realatively clean otherwise.  The stag looks different than some of my others, but such is the nature of natural material so not sure I can say much about that.

But I really took the picture to show off my new background.  If only it was a bit bigger.

I really like the new cadets.  Where are you guys getting them from?  I checked edcsource and Felinevet doesn't have them.

Tim will have those, send him a PM  :pok:

Yes, he just posted that he's got his dealer order and to contact him if you need them.

Thanks guys! I saw his post shortly after I posted.  The cat-signal has been activated  ;)

 The old cross on a black farmer just looks right. :tu: That's the second farmer I've seen it on (first was a Route 66 one). Are there any other?

Some lovely aloxes guys! How about a old style cross but in red on a black scale. That would look amazing IMHO

A CT34 in sad sad shape. I can barely move the pliers. The CT looks like it was sandblasted.

(Image removed from quote.)
I have a NIB LNF Climber exactly like this one and checked, YES indeed, the Pin is missing! I think it is probably because Victorinox does not market them with the pin but they have the scales with the pin hole. There are quite a few new models that have come out that have the back scales with a pin hole but no pin. I think the only ones Victorinox supplies the pin with are the ones indicated with "Plus" scales which are supposed to have the pin.
