Excellent.  What other tools does it have?

It's a Weekender / Serrated Spartan, so the basic set of a regular Spartan.  From the Wiki: https://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=455

Got some cool SAKs in the mail yesterday. I was offered them by someone I've bought knives before and couldn't say no. Two Alox Soldiers: an Elsener Schwyz 1973 in used but still very good condition (looks worse on the photo than in person) and a new in box Victorinox 1986 without WK stamp. So my guess is that this is a late 86 model when it was clear that the stamp was no longer required? Or a 87 production with a left over 86 blade that was in stock.

The older knives are a 1939 Soldier (model 1908), a 1953 and a 1954. All these are Wengers. I'll share some more pics soon when I've got them all cleaned up. I don't want over restore them and leave some patina on them. I just wanna remove the superficial rust and clean out all the gunk that has built up over the years. Tools have a great snap.

I know it's the wrong question, but may I ask: what do you do with three rangers that you couldn't have done with two? (That question is coming from someone who has 10 or more Alox Soldiers in his collection... )  You also put them in a drawer and spend time looking at them?   :D

1=0, 2=1 and 3=2. I dont really need 3 Rangers but it was cheap and i like Ranger toolset. 2 will stay on my drawer while i use that 1 for my EDC

I've been after a Victorinox Watch Opener for a little while...

Treated myself to a pair of another variety.  I really like the blue of this one.

Something finally showed up that I've been waiting on for a while. It's a bantam with black nylon scales. From what I've read this variation was made for the Singapore armed forces and was used as their standard issue knife for a few years in the early 2000s. The seller I bought it from was located in Singapore so that checks out. I just thought it was an interesting variation, and I've always liked the nylon scales. I wish they would put them on more new production models.

(Sorry for the boring picture. I wanted to get it in the right light to capture the texture of the scales.)

I received my first Cybertool in the mail a couple of days ago, which I'm thrilled to own. It's a Cybertool S, new-in-box, and it is far lighter in weight than I anticipated. The light-weight has piqued my interest in adding the Cybertool 34 to my collection next, particularly before Vic decides to sunset it...

Picked up this Wagner Swisspen just for the novelty factor.  It uses Victorinox tools.  I swapped out the LED for something a little brighter.  Seems like a good writing pen.

That's one I've never heard of. I :like: it!

Thanks to AzteCypher, I got two new Wenger Highlanders. :hatsoff: They have the inlaid cross, rather than the printed one.

New old stock of Hardwood Spartan with scale tools. The Hardwood scale tool scales were discontinued in 2017. The only reason I bought it was because it has the  scale tools. I would not buy any Hardwood knives without the scale tools and the Spartan is the only one that interests me because it’s 2 layers and carries thin and light

Acquired this Ensign in a knife lot I purchased recently.  I initially thought it was a CAK based on the pictures alone but once I got it in my grubby little hands, I realized it was a SAK.  Not in bad condition at all.

I just received my brand new Compact as an upgrade to my eight year old Waiter.  My quick impression, it’s better functionally in about every way in exchange for being a little more noticeable in my pocket (no surprise).  Slightly bigger blade, slightly wider combo opener tool, scissors, pen, file, hook, pin and glasses screwdriver vs a stock Waiter.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

It is the only 91mm Vic with scissors that I would consider for EDC, three layers is just too much for me around town, and I’ll use it backpacking too.  For backpacking, it has a great food prep blade, scissors and file for grooming, and tools for dealing with stuck knots, pulling tent stakes, etc.  The pen can be used for trail head logs, and the pin for blisters and splinters.  So really great functionality compared to the Waiter for hiking.

I had read mixed reviews about the file on the back of the hook, and  I’m glad to say I’m happy with it.  I would never claim that it’s as good as a Cadet or even a Classic file.   I’ve found for me it works best if I can hold the knife still and move my nails rather than the opposite.  That’s hard to do on toe nails though, so I will be awkwardly filling toe nails by moving the file over my toes.  Still, way better than nothing at all.

Coincidentally picking up on the Compact theme... I already have a couple of Timekeepers and a SuperTimer in red, but delighted to add a black one to the set :).

Got my Pioneer Plus Alox 2024 Limited Edition today on the Packet Station:
Looks amazing , much more like a Gentleman Folder than these usual SAK Plastic Bombers, I like the feeling of these a bit more grippy scales, and the AAle should be usefull for opening Packages..

The only thing I don’t like is the Nail Nick on the Scizzors: I can’t get my nail in it as long as the Can Opener is closed.. but well this is one thing I have to get used too..

A picture:
Your SAK is only fully yours, when it bites you, or you opend a Trink of your joice whit it
SAKs i have: Huntsman Light (Red Transparent), Workchamp (Black), Wenger EvoGrip S557 (Red), Swisschamp XLT (Red Transparent).. Swisschamp (Blue Transparent) Cybertool L (Blue Celidor (custom scales) , Huntsman (Black Celidor) , Victorinox EvoGrip S557 (Red, but sadly lost in my house somewhere) Victorinox Delemont S17 and S57 ..  , waiting for: Swiza D09 Blue

I guess I’ll ask on here, is there a place to order replacement sak scales of a diff color besides eBay or Etsy that doesn’t cost a so much?

Not that I'm aware of. Most of the replacement scales I've found on sites other than eBay or Etsy are located outside of the States.

The online ones usually include postage which adds a fair bit.  In UK for you can take a knife to the London store and they'll replace the scales with standard ones (cellidor, including plus I think) for £5.  Or you can take the scales home for same price to fit yourself.  That's cheaper than you can get then on ebay.co.uk.   Not sure if other outlets will do the same...
