I can see that it would be too hard to clean for EMT's , plus expensive . I could see it in an IFAK . I want one , simply for the Kool gadget factor . For me the ring cutter seals the deal , it can shear stuff that could otherwise Smurf up the scissors .

I can see Adam Savage use it on Mythbusters

I would probably buy one just because it's a neat idea and I don't have one.  I do have a few sets of medical shears though, from my time in security.  I don't think I would have any issue carrying this over a dedicated set, but then again I'm not an EMT and the use I would have had for them in security would have been rare.

I still think I like this idea better than the OHT mess they came out with.

What they should have done is make em with. 154cm blade inserts like the rebar only for scissors, so when they do get boogie red up and they will, you could replace them then it might be worth $70  but instead they put a nice looking set of smooth blades with a ruler

I really do hope leatherman turns it around this year, I'm excited they bought pocketoolx, and hopefully they will infuse them with some fresh ideas. I really think the wave/charge is due for At treat a refresh, and hopefully a redesign. Ideas like this are interesting, but the price point for the intended user is too steep' with the minimal feature set, reminds me of how steep the skeletools price was when it was introduced compared to the wave.

Wonder what impression or impact that would have on companies that don't allow knives on their employees? Won't be able to get one for a while, after visiting the dentist today. But those scissors do look rather tempting - though curious as to how they can be used past the intended carry.

If you could put it in an autoclave, or have replaceable cutting shears. That would be ideal

Actually ordered from them on the 10th...and they STILL don't have stock.  Not clear what's going on there.  However, what *is* clear is that I'm definitely obsessed with LM tools.  I just can't stop.

Knifecenter's updated availability date:

I'm thinking, 'like I really need these' - *but* they - I believe - will actually come in handy, definitely in Summer.  That is, if one is wearing shorts [i.e.] and they're not, say, *tool-holding* shorts [ahem - oh, you know what I mean!], these fine shears can stay at the waist or on a belt.

I don't know about anyone else, but I almost always carry surgical shears.  They come in handy.  Whether it's cutting cord, cable ties, ...or the string to small children's balloons.  I think you get the gist.  Unfortunately, though - I'm ashamed to say that I use surgical shears *because I can't always get to my Surge scissors*.  I try, I try, but sometimes it's just not happening.

   Omigod...I'm so...sorry...

Anyone else notice that the ruler/logo is etched on crooked?  That's a pretty easy spot, can't believe QC didn't see that...

I have an existing order in with KnifeCenter [for - ? two months maybe] and - if you've checked their site, then you know - but, to quote:

"Leatherman has delayed this product, due to a production problem. They do not have a ship date at this time."

I called LM today just so I could hear them tell me that they have no answer.  They don't -and- did confirm some type of production problem.  Whatever that is exactly...

Realizing that not everything goes according to plan, I still don't get it.  That's a fairly major screw-up - both the [evidently] shut down and the QC miss.

I don't believe I'm talking out of school when I say that when I called KnifeCenter to inquire about two weeks ago...they were *not* - NOT too fond of whomever it was they were dealing with at LM.

Eeeeetss a little stupefying, but perhaps I'm easily stupefied.

I'm having my own battles with myself about Leatherman.  After a few patronizing email responses from them filled with PR-speak and blanket defense statements that attempt to make you feel stupid, I have decided I am done trying to give them my direct feedback because they apparently just want to put the walls up.

I love the Brand old leatherman ways, and I will probably keep buying those on Ebay for my users.  I might try a new model here and there, but not without holding it in my hands to make sure it's one that SHOULD have passed QC.  That said, at least for the models that have been around a bit, the QC seems to be getting better.  It always seems that first production runs are littered with errors.

Well, I bought two OHTs last year and have had no problem whatsoever.  Having said that, they do [in my experience] seem to get a tad defensive and evasive about what I would consider to be simple questions.  It's not like someone's looking for proprietary info, just either a little heads up or a minor clue re: due dates.  Also with feedback - it's a little like, 'oh, this moron thinks he's going to tell us something new...'.  Well, a little...

I still have faith, but they should get it together in fairly short order here.  My real concern is for the new Surge.  LM getting this raptor thing resolved would go a long way to restoring faith for a lot of people who seem to be kind of squinting when looking at new LM products.

I'm very cautious with Leatherman these days. I'd certainly agree the old ways were better and any gripes I have/had against older models were design based (Pulse locks for example) but the build quality was very reassuring, whereas these days I don't feel the same way. My Charge AL has no issues and I'm very happy with it, but in general I don't feel that Leatherman tools today are worth the price premium over other options, and I have been happier buying carrying and using Gerber options of late (mainly Octane, MP400, MP700, and Balance). Unfortunately Gerber still don't make anything to even remotely rival the Wave/Charge series yet, but I certainly prefer their smaller tool options.

As for the Raptor, it doesn't seem to be a hugely complex design, so I'm a little perplexed as to what the big issue is. At least they are holding back on despatch to try and fix it though rather than just letting them out of the door, and let's hope that etched scale is just a rogue one
